WTF noob seller showing a 2 euro model M :/
« on: Sun, 26 January 2014, 02:44:09 »
Just saw this, and of course ATM it's quite impossible to join him by phone, so many people don't know the value of things they sell...

http://www.leboncoin.fr/informatique/610294041.htm?ca=21_s

A nice model M between 2 crap keyboards for only 2 euro ? Yes... trying to get it but I guess he's got many calls since early this morning... please let it for me, it's an AZERTY anyway and I miss my ex-model M :/

There should be a mandatory licence to sell stuff on the web LOL

I'm confused. Are you complaining because it's cheap or are you mad or what? I thought paying the least amount possible was what we all aim for.
No, he’s not around. How that sound to ya? Jot it down.

Also, just hope the seller is not a casual GH member who happens to browse the keyboards section ;)

It'd be hilarious if it turns out it's a rubber dome version and the guy knew what he had all along.

Yes, and the photo is terrible.

But a 71G would be a blue label and that one looks black from here.

Twice I have gotten stuck with a Quiet Touch and managed to unload it on ebay for about $15. I was careful to sell it honestly, of course.

Thanks for the advice, I did not know there were domes models with the same shell, this keyboard was part of an IBM PC 330 machine, anyway I asked for back sticker pics to ensure it's a model M.

But the one I had got a blue IBM logo on it and was a model M (1995 UK).

Model Ms with part numbers 71xxxxxx are rubber domes. I do not know when or why they were made.

There were at least a half dozen keyboard options for the PC330.  Some were rubber dome, some were buckling spring (including the M13).  As far as I know, the rubber dome options didn't look like the classic M. Here's the base options with part numbers:

KB705 TRACKPOINT II KB PS 13H6705
104-KEY RUBBER-DOME KEYBOARD 41H9724
104-KEY RUBBER DOME KEYBRD BLACK 76H0109
ENHANCED KEYBOARD PS 92G7453
KB454 ENHANCED KEYBOARD PS/AT 92G7454
KB461 ENH KEYBOARD W/T PTII  92G7461

The last three are buckling spring and are the classic M case.  Do you have a part number?

If your informations are reliable, it's not a rubber dome as the first 3 keyboards won't look like the one on the pic :
1st one has a trackpoint
2nd one has windows keys
3rd one is black

This has a surprisingly good list, near the bottom.

Thx but I allready know it, that's why I'm asking the seller a sticker pic, although I'm pretty sure it's a model M...

As far as rubber domes go, it's a top notch board.

That's a shame.  With the original photo, you might have gotten lucky.

MOst unfortunate.
