If I ever owned a mac I'd hide my really risky pr0n in a folder labeled "Windows"  :p

Isn't it customary in these threads for the OP to start us off?

Years ago, I used to have my own patch for Window Maker, that I never released. It used to have somewhat different images and rendered the active window's resizebar different from those of inactive windows. I applied my patch on every new release.
These days, I am too lazy to be a pixel-perfectionist and install from source -- I use the stock Ubuntu package.

I also had my own GTK theme (for Gnome apps), back in the 1.x days. This I did release, though, and it was somewhat popular. It did not only draw things to fit with Window Maker, it also patched the code of some existing widget classes to work in what I thought was more usable. It was quite a big hack, indeed, all for perfectionism. I even had my own graphics routines to draw antialiased arrows and tabs in user-selected colours. When GTK had a large internal redesign, I didn't rewrite my code, so then the project died.

If you haven't already ... ;)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

My PC is named Menzoberanzen from the legend of Drizzt series with all my hard drives named after cities from the stories.

Also all my characters from Star Wars the Old Republic MMO are names from those characters as well.

I was thinking of putting my water setup back up.. now that summer's come.. but then I remembered why I stopped watercooling.. that damn ggggurrrzheeeeeeee sound..

Has there been any new pumps with improve noise lately?

stopped using it a while back because I wasn't getting a higher OC even with temps down. and I didn't game enough to significantly impact hardware lifespan.. so Water with its pump-whine didn't make sense to me

The best noise to performance ratio I ever had from a pump was the Laing DDC 3.25.  With an aftermarket head it would outperform mostly anything out there except and iwaki rd-30.  Part of what you're talking about is why I don't watercool myself except for those AIO coolers.  They are much less noisy and are engineered to cool just a bit better than air.  That's all I really need these days :)

My secret, hmm ... I have to think. You mean a really nasty secret everyone will be shocked to hear? Hm ... yes I have one of that kind! A few years ago I realized, that it's alot more comfortable to urinate into the washbasin (for a male) than into the toilet. Moreover, it saves water, cleaning with a few splashs of tap water is enough. Try it out by yourself, but don't tell your girlfriend! Thank you for your attention, folks :-)

I don't know if that is geeky enough, but it has to do with creativity. We are conditioned to do certain things in the provided habit. It's creative to break those habits for a practical benefit.

when i have to crimp and network our home computers (i use wired as much as possible, all pcs, game systems etc), my wife has to help me out b/c i'm color blind. i have a network cable tester as well, if i do it w/o the wife pointing out which colors are what, i have a 50/50 success rate.

There was a guy who ran a 100% copper pipe loop with a high performance pool pump connected to a massive geothermal water loop.  He had water valves in different rooms he could connect his PC(s) to and ran about 5-6 PCs off of the same loop and kept temperatures well below ambient :)  My favorite observation of his was that it was almost too quiet.

I once tricked a little kid into trading me his brother's Ninja Gaiden Trilogy (SNES) for my copy of Gears of War 2 (360,) and I never felt guilty about it.

Not really a secret anymore though.

It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

I used to put all my personal files/folders in a folder on C: called "007".  Mostly because it would appear at the top, but you know.. :)

They were both ****ing awesome.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Like CLiB, I have never been on an airplane -- despite the fact that I applied last week for a job at an international airport :P

You've been a member of GH for ... whoa! more than 2 years - I think it's a given that you spend too much on keyboards and keyboard accessories ;)

Every computer, game system, camera and other similar electronic device is named and numbered (With additional descriptive letters to know what each thing is). Every peripheral and data storage device is also numbered.

I can pretty much refer to any electronic thing I own by a series of numbers (it also helps that every wifi-enabled thing also has their local IP set to match their unique numbers).
