Best settings for the Zowie FK1 if you're used to 1200DPI/CPI
« on: Mon, 03 November 2014, 11:21:47 »
So as the title implies guys, I'm heavily used to using 1150 - 1200 DPI on all of my past mice and what not.

My current settings for the Zowie FK1 are:

1000hz (default I believe)
800 DPI
7/11 - Windows Sensitivity
Razer Goliathus mousemat

When I put the windows sensitivity down to 6/11 it feels a little too slow and anything above 7/10 is too fast, so is the best that I'm going to get out of Windows and my mouse?

Windows sensitivity above 6/11 isn't the best idea. Better play a bit with lower sensitivity and higher sensor resolution.

DPI 1600
Win 5/11
= 1200dpi

BUT: every 4th count is ignored = inconsistent

It blows my mind that anyone in their right mind can use a sensitivity that high... Do you play videogames like that too?? I cant imagine being good at them with that kind of sens.

for reference sake, I play CSGO with 400dpi, 6/11 windowns sens, and 1.5 ingame sens (CS:GO)

perhaps I became accustomed to using my forearm for moving the mouse instead of my wrist. I love the feeling of a mouse passing over a large surface area, its very pleasing/satisfying/borderline eroitic. One thing about the FK1 that annoyed me, at first, was the mouse "bottoming out". HAve you gotten that at all? The mouse feet are far too shallow, and they allow for the center of the mouse to catch the cloth of the pad if you even press down on it slightly.

Now that I have used it more I am much more used to that feeling.

ahh, you're like one of my friends then..he likes the large swiping motion as well....i personally though find that 3200 dpi is just nice...anything higher and it'll be too sensitive.
i'm trying it out now...maybe i'm doing it wrong. i'm pressing down with my index and middle finger quite hard at the base of the slit, at the highest or thereabouts point of the mouse and i don't get any catching at all. fyi, i'm using a razer goliathus

Majority of FPS players play @ 400dpi (resolution doesn't matter on fps) and a good majority of the SC2 Pros use 800dpi @ 1080p.  However in FPS you can adjust sensitivity with any speed you want.  I personally prefer 800dpi on desktop usage over my EC2.  Anyway random.. but I would stick with the DPI 1600 Win 5/11= 1200dpi.  If you actually can notice a problem then you can go from there, if not then don't look back and enjoy the sensitivity you are use to.

I don't want to be the guy that tells you a certain setting is superior, but I went from nova 4 to LEM/SMFC within a few months after I just changed it and got used to it. That being said, there are quite a few wrist players out there, and they are amazing with a high sens. They are a very small minority though.

what games are you playing?

Oh no no, i'm not saying setting is superior either.i'm just saying what i've seen.everyone has their personal preference and what matters is that they're comfortable with...regardless of settings

I use 2700dpi  in windows.. because it's more ergonomic to have less wrist movement..

in games I use 800 like all the pr0z..  <-- years ago.. I don't play no more.

The reason for using native/reduced dpi is to lower potential jitter, and input lag..

remember, the sensor has a processor... the more crunching is required, the more the potential latency, and the odds for a hiccup...

I play at these settings with my FK2 in CS:GO:

FK2 DPI: 400
Windows Sensitivity: 6/10
CS:GO Sensitivity: 2.0

In OS X however, I switched to 800DPI so I move less...
