What's your favorite part of Thanksgiving day for you guys?
« on: Wed, 26 November 2014, 14:06:59 »
Personally for me it's the stuffing.  Stuffing makes me a happy camper.  A close second is knowing Christmas is around the corner.  Gives me that cheery feeling and I become happy  ;D

When I get to have it earlier than the Americans and laugh as I stuff myself full of food.  :thumb:

The crispy roast turkey skin and the gravy.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

I used to love it. Was my favorite holiday, even. But since moving away I haven't had the pleasure of going to a family Thanksgiving dinner for 6 or 7 years because money has been so tight. And when I do have the money to fly all the way to Boston, it always seems like I don't have the time to take 4-5 days away from work. :'(

Great, now I feel guilty and sad. Thanks GH.

We are here for everyone on Thanksgiving, even if you don't have the luxury of visiting family. The GH family will always be here!

Seeing my family and my niece and nephew.  ^.^  Even though we'll almost inevitably end up fighting about something...      It's fun for the 5 minutes it remains civil!  :))

(my family will fight, not me and my niece/nephew...  -_-  )

Family and food, or food and family. On a second thought, maybe family, but food is also great.

Don't fight kids Hoff, you'll lose.

Now that I live far away from my immediate family, I look forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas. We get together, eat amazing food, play with my dog, and go on random adventures. I look forward to feeding my dog as much as I can from the dinner table, eating double ice cream (ice cream 2x in a day) at ice cream time, and laughing.

Getting drunk with friends in a responsible, classy way.  Waking up the next morning at midnight with drool running down my face at a Target in some seedy part of town.  Just because somebody suggested somewhere in that drunken stupor that we should:  "Go do black friday man."  As I arise from the pavement i notice a hole in the crotch of my pants and my knees are wet.  The taste of poor quality cigarettes and even poorer quality whiskey burn in my rasp of a throat.  And as I step groggily into what appears to be the fetid remains of a mcdonalds feast from a week prior, a thought occurs to me almost brilliantly.  I don't like thanksgiving at all anymore do I?

Make friends, have Thanksgiving with them.  Thanksgiving with friends is always more fun and enjoyable to me than Thanksgiving with family.

Food, seeing little nephews, nieces and little cousins running around (despite thinking these little snots running around with ipads and 3DS' have it good), football, me mixing drinks and seeing family members you don't normally see drunk completely hammered, seeing people actually sitting at a dinner table not worrying about what's on sale ... and football!

Stuffing, cranberry sauce and leftover turkey sandwiches are my favorites.  There is usually 12 to 14 people at the house on any given weekend, so we are used to having friends / family over.  We bought a 25lb turkey this year, and with the 22 people that came over - it was gone by 6pm.  Picked up an 8lb turkey yesterday that I will make today, just so I can make me some 'leftover' turkey sandwiches.

Time it with a visit to me.

I love thanksgiving. Food & family. We also have a tradition of making three different types of Pecan Pie.

we also made the leftover turkey into a turkey pot pie, which is like the best comfort food ever (I was sick).

Thanksgiving dinner has always been my favorite. I love good stuffing, turkey, cranberry sauce, etc. It's all about eating and no religious overtones.
