WTF is a persimmon? I've never seen such a thing. Looks too much like a tomato to me.

they're a south-east asian fruit, but there are some other varieties grown elsewhere.
they're pretty sweet, i like them a lot
the uses of them are basically a cross between apples and apricots
and they're about as good as both of those things

Ok, ya gotta make sure you try persimmons RIGHT..
When you go to pick it out.. The big kind (size of medium apples) are usually easier to work with because when ripe they are Very soft.. Like... touch your cheeks or your belly.. they should be THAT soft.. That's how you know.
The smaller persimmons may be ripe and as soft, but only SOMETIMES,
they may also be edible when they're as hard as apples.. it's much harder to tell with smaller persimmons
