I'm an ABC,nyc,  i have an asian name, when i was in my teens i did the thing most asian kids with asian names did and said "call me Charlie". Then i found out the Charlie slang in Vietnam, decided to be more regal and be called Charles. Decided to change it back to Charlie since most white ppl have a problem pronoucing Charles for some god damn reason, but Charlie is fine.

I go by my asian name cuz, **** it, it's my name i never legally changed it, but i do go by Charlie when i do call ahead seating, make delivery orders. For a while i used to just use my dogs name instead James, as that was a lot easier for white ppl to say, since he died i went back to Charlie.

And no, i have zero asian accent, my wife said i sound like a white gay guy, yea i wasn't blessed with a cool Sean Connery voice.

Went to dim sum w/ wife yesterday, old white couple sat behind me.

Got up to pay the check, noticed old white couple had chicken feet bones on their plates, yea they know whats going on. (even tho the chicken feet was only, "ok" and not great at this place)

I mention this b/c i'm the chinese friend (along w/ wife) that white ppl ask to take you along with to dim sum.

i'd say 50/50 are adverse to the chicken feet. (not the foodies, they'll try anything) Most white ppl food game is weak.

anyone besides me who enjoy a stinky tofu (臭豆腐), herbal soup with pig intestines (四神湯), spicy duck blood (麻辣鴨血),  any kind of food sold by street vendors in Taiwan,
oh... and not to forget the best thing ever... chicken butt skewers (雞屁股串)

And to top if off, eat green tea cakes with chopsticks

In my fridge you will always find a bottle of Mirin, Miso and a bottle of soy sauce... in my shelf at least some katsuobushi （鰹節) and a selection of dashi... I'm crazy about Japanese food, and not only the kind western people tend to associate with Japanese food - and I can make a Japanese girl's heart melt with my Okonomiyaki  (true story, lol)


My appearance is Caucasian.... however... if you look at that word... Cauc Asian... Cauc in Latin can mean ladle... so basically, the Caucasians are Asians unable to use chopsticks and have to use a ladle for eating instead
(However, anyone can be converted to a true Asian, the chopstick is the greatest invention ever - and two of them is godlike)

That depends on how far you lean towards the banana/twinkie.

If you're an ABC, it's pretty much a give you're a banana/twinkie, to figure out if you lean more towards the yellow or the white, what do you think in when you talk/write.

Your more whitey if you think in english than if you think in asian language.

Even when i talk to moms, i think in english and translate into chinglish before i speak it out.

I have a tendency to eat non-steak western foods with chopsticks...

And most Asian foods with fork and spoon.

Until now I can't eat spaghetti or pastas with a fork. I hate chasing salad tomatoes around with a fork.
But I grouch at the round table Chinese restaurants where you have to eat everything with chopsticks.

From a Taoist (and therefore anciently legitimate Asian point of view) one should always use the most convenient tools to adapt to one's needs. Being attached to some 'culture' is unnecessary.

Indian dipping foods (parathas, naans and chapatis) and breads (including Chinese buns) should always be eaten with hands.
Rice dishes always with fork and spoon , unless you're using glutinous rice.
Salads and noodles of all kinds, as well as Western finger foods like french fries and chicken nuggets, with chopsticks.
Meats of all kinds, including Chinese dishes, with fork and knife.

And this is how it is done in my household.
