Blowing up
« on: Mon, 06 April 2015, 22:51:34 »
I was a bit too zealous, - rate of Rice - intake too high..

Before I knew it I was stuffed.. but still felt ok..

Then I drank a half glass of cabbage soup..  And Now i feel like I'm about to explode..

Why does it feel like the water was significantly more voluminous than the rice..

Maybe 'cause you had water last?

Try stuffing yourself with water first, then eat a bowl of rice and see what happens.

For science.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

It's perfectly normal to eat like that in China. You didn't think the folks making Iphones for $2 an hour eat a whole load of steak and wine, do you?

TP's just missing the soy sauce. Ain't normal to eat rice without soy sauce for most Chinese.

I'm always up for some fried Tofu,  even when i'm full..

In ol' China, I'd be full. then take a short walk to the food stalls outside, and be hungry again..

Oh man.. they had fried everything..  Pretty much you can ask for anything on the menu to be fried..

Fried Dumplings, Fried wontons (they're different whities).. Fried bokchoy with some oyster sauce..

Throw in some cumin, ground cayenne, and load it up with sriracha sauce... tasty.

TP, that's another reason why I dare not go to China nowadays. Too many people use gutter oil to do their frying.

TTzhou, since you take chili oil rather than dried chilis, I take it you are not from Sichuan. Apart from that my guess is not Guangdong or Fujian nor most of the northern regions either. That still leaves 2/3 the country...

Hahahaha. I don't dare eat at food stalls any more.  But overall you're quite safe from gutter oil. Its sensationalist news mostly.

Hunan. We like our spiciness to have some flavour, not just numbed tongues :P Them Sichuan folk need to numb their tongue to withstand the heat... we just shrug and taste it.

I have a strong stomach so I don't really care about the street stalls haha. I've had many of them and only had indigestion a couple times.

The Chinese related food scares I've had are so numerous I really don't dare eat their stuff anymore. Feeding the kids melamine milk (made the mistake of buying an entire carton in my one and only foray into Chinese milk, when an importer showed them off at a local food expo) was the worst ever and I will remember that as long as I live. 恭产党的屎品绝不可饮。

Sichuan food is the worst of all Chinese foods in my opinion. Everything is over-chili-ed. Even in tropical areas where we eat chili everyday, it is unacceptable in Indian, Thai and Malay cuisines and would be considered poor taste to burn out your taste buds. And there is too much salt and oil too. Sichuan cuisine has spread everywhere but I believe it is brought by unskilled migrants who only know how to open hot pot restaurants where all the cooking is done by patrons.

Yeah, we usually send milk powder from Canada back to our relatives rather than let them buy that garbage. I agree with you there.

As for Sichuan food, I live in Toronto-ish area so there are actually some pretty good ones. When I tried it in the States though, it was garbage. I find Toronto has far superior Chinese food than anywhere else outside of China.
