Great looking board! I'm planning to do something similar, I got 55g domes on hand, going to hop into the JT group buy for the sliders, and then I'm going to DIY silence them with Landing pads. And too finish it all off, a Hasu's controller. For probably my End game keyboard. (I shouldn't say that. I'll probably be buying more keyboards anyways...)

And maybe one day, that HHKB aluminium case if it ever comes to fruition.  :thumb:

Anyways Nice job on everything. Look great.

You flipped the entire bottom row? Interesting.

Looks awesome.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

If you keep your wrists on the table then you'd have to bend your thumb to reach a CMD button that's not inverted... This way, my thumb is straight and I can easily hit the key with the second flange of my thumb as well, and with less than 1cm travel between CMD and Space... it's the best way to go.

Awesome board IonutZ! Thats one crazy hybrid HHKB you have going on there xD

Regarding your plans on adding bluetooth tho, Im wondering how you are planning on fitting two 1600mAh batteries and how you are planning on connecting two to hasu's controller?

With lithium polymer batteries afaik you could not just wire them up in parallel, nor use two (with half the voltage each) in series without using a balancer to make sure they get charged evenly.

Using two 1600mAh in series also would still result in 1600 (not 3200mAh), and using them in parallel is already not recommended for alkaline batteries and can potentially be very dangerous with lithium ones since one could charge/discharge the other to the point of damaging it or even starting a fire....

You can actually buy lithium polymer batteries configured in parallel, but these have been made from tested to be matching cells and its not recommended to DIY this and even splitting up one of those pre-made parallel ones could potentially unbalance it I think.

So I'm not saying this is impossible, but definitely make sure what you are doing as lithium polymer batteries as hasu mentioned can potentially be very dangerous.

demik, man, the Topre world is expanding. Now all those Cherry mx users can never again say topre users don't have keycap options.

Anyways, it's what on the inside that counts, and on the inside it's still the same oneness with cup rubber.

hahaha. Purists these days...

Is there more "wiggle" with the novatouch stems vs the stock stems?

Only the keys requiring stabs have a little more wiggle because the cylinder is slightly smaller. However, I had to drill holes left and right of the cylinder housing in order to get the stabilizers to pop out and allow the stem of the cherry caps to go in the housing.

Glad if I could help IonutZ! =)

Kinda made me feel like a buzzkill bringing this up, but lithium polymer is usually more complicated and dangerous then one would think,
so Its kinda important to be aware of it as well.

Yessir! I started reading about a balancer... well even a 1600mah will do. I bought a 3000mah (that's really slim) thinking I could fit it in. But figured out that 2 halves would work a lot easier.

Hey thats great man, I am about to attempt the novatouch slider mod in a few days on my hhkb

I am just curious though, is your spacebar using the novatouch stabilizers or are you still using your stock HHKB stabilizers?

The Topre standard spacebar size is not the same as cherry standard right?

Did you just leave the spacebar as stock?

Is the spacebar dcs as well or is it the original topre spacebar?

If it's dcs, how did you install the stabilizers for it?

The only thing on the hhkb that has housings is the space bar, so you could replace the spacebar if you wanted to. I however didn't have a 6 spacebar... the GH Nostalgia only came with 6.25 +

It wouldn't be an issue to replace stabs with novatouch stabs on spacebar though.

Why is there no ergonomic Topre keyboard in existence? There'd have to be a demand out there for one.

Neither - the bottom row is broken on both of them.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
