****test thing in my life just happened.
« on: Tue, 11 August 2015, 19:30:37 »
It's hard for me to breath now, just feel like spitting it out.

About 1-2 hours ago, I was filling gas at a QuickTrip. When I finished and driving away, there was a AA man slapping my car in the back to NICELY remind me that the gas cap was not put back.

So I stopped the car (didn't pull the key out), and walked out the car and put the gas cap back on. By the time I was doing that, he jumped on my car (at the moment I was thinking what he was doing??), closed the door, and drove away fast.

So I called 911 and the insurance company right away, and the police officers took some notes from me.

End of the stupid story. How could I ever thought someone would do such thing after NICELY reminding you that your gas cap was not put back on.

There goes my car. Hopefully they can get it back. This is by far the craziest thing that's ever happened to me.

Be mindful guys, don't leave your keys in the car at all times.

Oh my goodness, that is awful and scary. Thank goodness you are alright. Cars can be replaced, even though it will not be fun. Better he took the car without further incident than it escalating. Man, I wish there was something I could do to help.

I hope everything works out in the end for you. That's really ****ty.  :(

Just glad you're safe. I can't believe someone would do that either, but the important thing is that it was just an item, and he didn't try to kill you for it.

So sorry that happened to you. ****tty is the light way to describe that.

Probably a true con artist.  Most likely did not use force or pulled out a weapon as the latter would make this an instant armed robbery (leading to more severe punishment if caught). Having been victim to a few con artists (and living in not the nicest of neighborhoods), I'm always suspect of people. Don't let your guard down, even if they are telling the truth since like you just experienced, things can go south so quickly, and right before your eyes.

Your gas tank was actually not closed right? Just have to ask...

Hope everything works out for you feng. Also hoping you get your car back, buying a car (esp. in emergency situations like this) can be a hassle.

Those people need to burn in hell.

I've had this experience before, not my car though, my sister's, and the only thing I hope is for the cops to not actually find the car. Or they can find it, but it's a total loss kinda thing. At least that way, the insurance will give you back the total value of the car instead of just fixing it if they mess around with it.

Yikes!

Also remember to lock your car when you go to pay, and check in the back seat when you return, in case someone has entered your car whilst you were paying and is hiding in the back seat.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Thank you so much for listening guys, I'm glad too that I'm OK and he didn't pull out a weapon which is much scarier. At least I'm not hurt and the car has full coverage. I might waste a few thousands bucks, but that's what it costs to learn a lesson.

Yeah you're right, I should never have let my guard down even if they seem nice and telling the truth. My gas tank was actually not closed, that's why I got off the car. I realized that right after he reminded me. Otherwise I would stay in the car and find somewhere else to check the gas tank if I believed I did close the gas tank.

I missed the old times when I only had the bike. Don't feel bad man, I'm just too busy to deal with the cyan GB lately as I moved into a new apartment and got back from vacation, etc. Hopefully I'll get the three packages from US customs within this week so I can starting working on it.

I had a friend of mine get his car stolen when we were much younger. It was his first car and he loved it. After he reported it stolen, he figured he'd never get it back. About a week later the police in another state contacted him saying they found the car. The insurance company loved this news cause they didn't have to pay out. The arranged to get the car sent back and that was that...for them anyway.

As it turns out the guy that stole it stopped just short of completely destroying it. He spray painted the exterior, dinged it up, trashed the interior, put like 2,000 miles on it and basically drove it into the ground while he had it. The insurance company said "you got your car back, be happy", and because he was so attached to it, along with being young and dumb, and having a very high deductible, he didn't push it. In hindsight he should have pushed them to total it, or cover the damage. It was a hot mess.

So moral of the story, you don't want them to find your car, as sucky as that is. Try to stay positive though. Maybe you will end up with something nicer at the end of this.

Well there's a bit of justice that they got shot I guess, but they're still alive to do it again though and if they're involved in (albeit bad at) drive by shootings they probably will :(

Holy ****..

How many is a bunch? Is the car worth the cost in repairs?

I'm just glad you're okay, again. If something like this went down, it could have gone worse for you..
The insurance company said it's like 14-15 holes. I don't know yet if it's worth to repair, they haven't released the car since it was involved in a crime. Yeah I'm just glad it didn't go worse when he stole the car.

Well at least you will have a story to tell for years to come

Glad you are safe seeing what became of the car you were in more danger that it seemed
At least he didn't use a gun when stealing the car.

Well there's a bit of justice that they got shot I guess, but they're still alive to do it again though and if they're involved in (albeit bad at) drive by shootings they probably will :(

Can you at least get your stuff out of the car, if there is any?
Nothing important in the car, so I didn't ask them to let me get my stuff out.

Never would have guessed you had a camaro. On the bright side, you can now get the turbo 4 banger version!
Well yeah most Asian wouldn't choose an American muscle car, but I just like to experience the whole American thing. I was thinking of trade in this car for a Sierra pick-up truck this year, but now I don't know if that can still happen.

Holy ****, that's crazy.  Again, glad you're alright after all that.  It seems pretty clear that they weren't afraid to use guns after all, so I'm glad they didn't do that to you.
If this is crazy and insane even for Americans, imaging how I feel as a foreigner who's not familiar with this country. :( On the bright side, I'm so glad the guy didn't pull out a gun back then even though it seems he could have.

You shouldn't repair it. Drive around with the bullet holes, so people know not to mess with you. ;)

That's some pretty messed up stuff right there. Sorry this happened to you, feng! At least you didn't get hurt.

Remind me never to move to St Louis.

+1 If I lived there currently, I'd be looking to move.  :(  It's a shame though because there's a lot of potential there.

Damn. Even though your car probably won't make it, at least he wasn't violent when stealing it.  That is one crazy situation.

At least you're safe and weren't physically threatened. I wish you the best of luck on getting your whip back!

Here's the news: http://fox2now.com/2015/08/12/shooting-sends-three-people-to-the-hospital/

The police called this moring saying the good news is they found it, the bad news is there's a bunch of bullet holes on the car.

You live in a scary ass neighborhood..

So I only just saw how this turned out.

Did you get your car back? What is the insurance going to do? I imagine there is a load of blood in your car as well if they drove themselves to the hospital in it =/
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?
