I'd def read the memoirs of hpn. Get to work!
lol
22 days. I was living in Lhasa, Tibet and had pneumonia. I had cracked 2 ribs coughing. Just couldn't muster the energy to shower, and I didn't have heat so I was worried it would make things worse anyway. Not my finest hour.
You should write a book. Such an interesting life.
LOL, the best stories are the ones I can't tell. :-/
Here's a vintage picture of me and one of my friends there:

And here are some others I took:

Wow, just wow. That shot of the mountains covered in snow is unreal. Was that just walking around or did you climb to get that one?
You could just have a picture book! These pictures speak a thousand words.
Thx, the first one with the birds I did actually get up at 4am, walked to the Potala palace freezing my butt off, and took some shots of the moon and then the sunrise.
But the one with the mountains, I'm ashamed to say, I took in my underwear through a cracked "window". I was staying in a small shack on the roof of an apartment building in
དཀར་མཛེས་རྫོང། (far northwest corner of Sichuan province). No foreigners are allowed there, but we made friends with a guy who owned one of the apartments. He snuck me and my two friends in and let us stay in the shack. It was so cold, with the wind blowing through the cracks, lol. The next morning I woke up and realized the sun was almost rising. I was missing it! I pulled back the board covering the "window" and saw that mountain peeking through the clouds. Grabbed my tripod and long lens and nailed it. According to those in the village the mountain doesn't even have a name. That's how that place is. A measly 22,000ft/6700m peak doesn't deserve a name.
One of these days I'll post some more pictures in a separate thread. Don't want to muck this one up further. We need more gross pictures of dudes with no showers!
