The LAN Party Thread
« on: Sat, 05 December 2015, 16:04:59 »
I'm headed to a LAN party with some friends and at the behest of Hoff, I'm making a thread of it.  Idk yet, but I may stream a little bit of it.

Packed up and ready to go

So far it's looking like CSGO, Battlefield 3, Halo Online, and GTA5.   There might be something else they want to play, but I have no idea.

Yeeeeee!

You're really going to game on a Model M?  O.o

Also, you guys should throw some classics (from my days at least ;) ) into the mix!  CSS, Unreal Tournament 2k4, AvP, Quake 2...  ^-^  Ah, man, now I wanna have a LAN with my middle school buddies again.  :D

Seeing that mouse & mousepad just made me cringe. Can you honestly play CSGO like that? :P

Comment still stands, tiny mousepad is tiny.

Oh good, you did bring another board.  :))  Hah.

Just the three of you?  Bummer about the other two skipping out, but you can still have a fun LAN with even two people - I once pulled an all-nighter playing Morrowind (both separately of course) with my friend because we had issues getting the network set up.  :P

It ruined our plans of CSGO, but we can bust out halo online!  Next time will be classics :D

Pretty kewl to see you fine lad's lugging your comps together to hang out and have a LAN party! Back in the day before the Interweb's, this is how we played games with our amigoz!

We used these things called "Ethernet cables" and connected these "Ethernet cables" to a 10mbit hub so we could play Warcraft II and Quake. :D

Bahh, ethernet!  I wasn't joking about Bolo. My parents were middle school teachers.  On a friday, we would raid the computer lab and borrow 10-16 Macintosh LC IIIs and take them to my house.  We would network them with AppleTalk (ethernet was really expensive, and I think most of it was still coax... token ring was the low cost networking solution for IBM clones) and play Bolo, and OG Marathon for as long as we could until people were falling asleep on their keyboards.

LAN was the best.  Internet required multiplayer has wrecked one of the coolest aspects of gaming culture.

UT99 is where the fun was. Sniper arena with godlike bots was just nuts. Haven't had a decent LAN experience since Insomnia last year, as the one this year was more about me playing Dota by myself or with R1N3 across the pond lol...
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Noooooo, it ended too soon!  :(  Looks like it was a fun time though.  :D

Speaking of curfews, there was a time I was at a LAN at a buddy's place and his parents were gone.  My parents had a strict parents-must-be-home rule, so we got his neighbor to come over and talk to my parents on the phone and tell them he was the parent.  The moral of this story is you should have stayed.  >:D

I was tempted to stay the night, but parental curfew came into effect.

I almost stayed the night but my dad needed the car early in the morning :(

Booooo, tell dad to get his own car.  >:D
