Mornings and Chairs
« on: Fri, 11 March 2016, 09:30:37 »
Have you guys noticed it feels cramped to sit in the morning.

As if your waist and back doesn't feel like bending..

Standing feels more natural in the morning..

I wonder if this is due to one's back being stretched out over night.

I'm not sure how high you are  :))

Look into standing desks, great for overall posture and comfort throughout the day. You can also get the adjustable ones.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Hmm I actually prefer to be seated all morning. My knees are usually too weak in the morning to support me but thats maybe due to all the running I do.

I don't think anyone advocates standing all day. The newer standing desks are all convertible, so you can alternate work positions periodically throughout the day.

I don't have a standing desk, but I have a very nice office chair and a job where I am up and moving about 60% of the time, and sitting the rest. Except Tuesdays, when I sit all day for about 12 hours. Tuesdays are definitely the most fatiguing days, and yet I have the hardest time falling asleep those nights.

I think standing for 30% of the day is a realistic balance. assuming you have a workout routine..

Otherwise you can get up to 50% quite comfortably..

I know some of you might come in here and tell me about that one time where you stood for 12 hours and felt nothing..

I'm not disproving that, I'm just saying,  , if it was EVERYDAY you wouldn't make it. hahahahaha
