All phones that are still middle class and they don't degrade in value as much.
The lowest common denominators who pay attention to "class" won't know the difference between two phones anyway. As long as it's new and shiny you're fine.

You can't hold onto a phone for 2 years if you want to get anything reasonable out of it.  I upgrade each year, and end up losing ~$200.  This year I don't expect to do that well since I currently have the Nexus 5X and will be out a bit more than that due to it being a midrange phone.

I was going to disagree then I realized I've never owned a phone for more than two years, although I've owned phones that are older than 2 years.

I agree for the most part.
Lower to mid range (android), even a year is asking a bit much from some. High end though, it depends a lot on what you do and how you use it but 2 years is probably pushing it if you do nothing to it.

On the other hand, if you mess with it, you can make it last a lot longer. Removing factory bloat, giving it a refresh (backup/purge), and running an adblocker can extend them greatly, however that requires root, which most are unwilling or unable to do. I won't run a phone I can't root.

Android itself is a terrible operating system which should have never been released onto the public at large the way it was (and before anyone complains, I'm a rom developer, so yes, I do have a clue what I'm talking about). IOS is better, but is saddled by Apple's walled garden policies and a terrible phone design (they're fragile and the body to screen ratio is TERRIBLE!).

I say ya'll primarily because  you-guys is a cumbersome set of words to pronounce, even mentally, it's grinding..   whereas ya'll is very natural..

As for noo joisey,   only a small subset of people here actually speak like that..
