What is this covering on this old keyboard ?
« on: Sat, 21 May 2016, 18:33:56 »
Hello ,
I was wondering if anyone could tell me the type of covering that is ok this keyboard . It is an old keyboard I picked up from a thrift store. The covering feels like the the coverings that were on the old keypads back in my elementary school' s cafeteria.
Thank you all .

Thank you for the reply , I think it's silicone , it's soft and flexible. Do you know where I might get something like that ? Also would a heat gun work ?

I don't think it's safe to heatgun or blowdry a flat piece on a keyboard.

Keyboards plastics are quite sensitive to heat and warp easily..

Do you have any ideas as to how a cover like that could be made for a modern keyboard ?

Unicomp sells covers for various mechanical keyboards. If you want one for a modern keyboard Mechanicalkeyboards sells a cover made for Ducky keyboards that might work. Shoot MK an email and they'll tell you if it'll fit on your current keyboard. The Ducky one is silicone based

Sure thing. Oh, and if you want a keyboard roof Elitekeyboards have some atm for 87/88 key keyboards. Just a few examples off the top of my head. I'm sure there are more out there especially if you search for them on taobao or ebay
