Please don't hang/burn/shoot me....But I have noticed as of late the bigger my 60% collection grows the less enamored I am with my HHKB.  Perhaps it's the lack of variety or my need to collect..not sure precisely what but lately when I swap my HHKB into my rotation I notice I swap it back out much faster than usual.

I still think it's a fine board,I still recommend it quite often..but perhaps it's Topre switches themselves I am fallout out of love with slowly?  I traded one of my HHKB's to a GH member recently.....and I'm considering trading out my second.

Any of you out there end up with this feeling after owning a HHKB for awhile and owning several other boards as well?   Using your HHKB less and less as time goes on?

Perhaps it's just my personal tastes changing in the long run...as they tend to do oh so very very often.

You bought the hype so thought you loved it (groupthink is a powerful thing!) but when that wore off you woke up and realised it's just not for you.

all switches are personal taste.

the important thing is that you didn't blindly hate it without trying. sometimes a board just isn't for us no matter how much we try to like it.

you're also dead to us at HHKBrotherhood.

If you have the means, keep at least 1 and rotate it back in at another time. Don't lose all hope!

My wife I a also push her button . But now she have her button push by a different men. So I buy a keyboard a mechanicale, she a reliable like a Fiat.

Maybe you're just loving some other boards equally as much...The more boards you have, the more attention you have that is split....I find that some days I'm into my HHKB and some days I want something else...nothing wrong with that at all.

I've been there man, sold my hhkb cause silly me think there are better switch or keyboard. But after a while I miss the hhkb

my advice is just keep the hhkb man!

you are just bored by it, especially on something as perfect as the topre swich.

you need "excitements" from time to time.

It's a bit of a boring switch. If it's predicated on being 'refined rubber dome', it can't be anything else than at least a little on the boring side, however good it feels, especially compared to possibly inferior mech switches that tend to have a distinct character of their own.

You're brave.  HHKB was actually my first non-membrane/non-scissor key keyboard long before I really got into MK, so I was over the hype long before I came here.

I wish I'd saved it, so I could have sold it for bunches!

I could see how someone could lose their hhkb luster from time to time. I too have time's where I wonder if I just bought into the hype, then I look back and ask myself do I really want to go back to mx? The answer is usually no. I'll keep a low end cherry board around in case I want to play sc2 again, but for the most part I just want something comfy, compact, well designed and has a solid look. Which is why I keep hhkb over anything.
I too would recommend at least keeping one, because chances are you will regert :) not having at least one.

I've never owned one but I would think part of the attraction of (and reason for choosing) the HHKB is the layout. I'd think that even if you no longer feel the tingle of the Topre switches, you'd still keep it for the distinctive layout.

Am I wrong?

You can get the layout in other switches.  They have nothing that says if it's that layout, it must be HHKB.

I still really like my HHKB, but I think I've always liked tinkering and modifying things. Since I can't justify modifying such an expensive keyboard, and there are limited replacement keycap options (although the stock ones are great) I find myself actually typing on my heavily modified POK3R more. When I get my LeandreN r4 pcb/plate and build my own 60% with a similar layout to the HHKB and 67g Zealios, I think I may find even less reason to use the HHKB.

The one thing that I really like about the HHKB, that I wish I could get on other 60% boards is the two part plastic case. Honestly, if there was a group buy for a very simple, high profile 60% case in an off white and rough texture, it would sell so well.

Believe what you will.  But I wasn't into MKs at the time.  I'd just heard about HHKB.  Everyone I asked said "It's not a real keyboard", or "I don't know about the size" or "Where's the other keys".  Don't shoot the messenger.  :p

As you said your taste tend to change often. I am the same way, so it's possible that one day you will want to use your HHKB again and it would suck if you traded it.

I understand your dilemma, but let's not be rash. This is a life we are talking about here.

Not sure about the rest of you, but I'm rich from all the positive things I post about the HHKB. For some reason, PFU decides to give me thousands of dollars to hype up their 10+ year old product, instead of making a new one. Truth is, the HHKB actually sucks and all the positive things you hear about it are sponsored opinions from PFU. I mean, why do you think we all spend so much time and money modifying and lubing it? Because it is a great keyboard? No way, it is total ****. The only reason why I'm telling you this is because Cherry gave me a much better offer to hype up their products instead. You guys ever hear of this switch called Blue? It clicks, but it also saved my marriage. It's THAT good.

I honestly can't imagine using a HHKB, function layers are annoying and the lack of CTRL key makes it unusable (for me) for any type of gaming.

I honestly can't imagine using a HHKB, function layers are annoying and the lack of CTRL key makes it unusable (for me) for any type of gaming.

A TKL Case Mounted Topre board WOULD BE HEAVEN.

Isn't that what a CM Novatouch TKL is?  Or am I missing something?

Not only plate mounted but unless you are willing to put the work into modding it the stock sound profile is just awful...that Novatouch rattle is enough to drive one mad.

Yeah, the NovaTouch sounds lame. I think the TypeHeaven also sounds like a regular rubber dome.

The Royal Kludge/Plum Topre Clones sound like dental banded topre, and it's delicious! (because they are dental banded out of the box)
