« on: Mon, 15 August 2016, 03:54:18 »
Hey guys..

Tp4 has never watched much sports..

But Every time that Tp4 has come across people who do watch excessive hours of the stuff, it would sseeeem like 7/10 of them gambled..  (just an opinion)_

Has anyone else had this experience with sports watchers. ?

I was reading that in the UK, the more economically disadvantaged the neighborhood, the higher the prevalence of betting parlors.

Funny you should say that, I once visited one of my friends who lives in what he calls "his crummy town", it's basically a complete ****hole :p . We were walking through a long shopping street in which virtually all shops were closed down, it was quite depressing. However, stereotypically as could be, the only things that were still open were a pub, a tattoo studio, and a bookie's :)) .

I only bet because the Irish guy I work with bets a lot. I don't think I'm in profit yet after two years working with him but I'm starting to win more recently...
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Rowdy doesn't watch sport, believing that sport is something one does, not watches.

Rowdy also notes that tp4 is referring to himself in the third person.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Even at the low odds.. You'd be up $2000 on $10000 over the rounds so far.

Sports are the original reality show.  And the actors actually have talent.  What more could you want from modern television?

I played sports basically from the time I was born until I graduated high school. I've never really understood why people enjoy watching other people play sports though. I've been to a bunch of super bowl parties, but always end up just getting drunk and playing pool or darts or whatever they have to do there that's not watching the super bowl. I absolutely hate watching basketball and football, because that's where it seems like the highest concentration of showoffy *******s are.

I have a ton of buddies that are constantly active playing and watching sports. Only 1 of them had a gambling problem for a couple years.

I am a massive sports watcher, lived in Vegas, and have never put a single penny on any type of event.

Well... are we counting buying into fantasy football leagues? I did that one year and that was that. Just as fun playing in a mess of free leagues.
My wife I a also push her button . But now she have her button push by a different men. So I buy a keyboard a mechanicale, she a reliable like a Fiat.

I absolutely hate watching basketball and football, because that's where it seems like the highest concentration of showoffy *******s are.

Even as a kid, I was never interested in spectator sports. My friends would talk about the players they did or didn't like, but they all seemed like arrogant overpaid crybabies to me. I also find "tribalism" quite distasteful in almost any form.

That said, I do enjoy the "art and science" of sports, but in many (most?) of them there is a lot of down time between seconds-long bursts of amazing activity.

People don't like sitting with me at games, because I get excited with a positive rush for an excellent play, which, of course, half of the time is for the "other team" so I am applauding a great play while everybody around me is booing the opponent's accomplishment.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

Alcohol is definitely a factor as it is in most American social activities..make sure you pack plenty of water too so you can go strong the next day. I've been preparing (not exercising) my 1-pack stomach to increase the holster-amount of barley soda that will commence in exactly 3 weeks from now.

a stop-motion quicktime event

That's what I hate. 5 minutes of boredom interrupted by 5 seconds of action, over and over. No wonder people drink heavily to get through it.

I agree that NASCAR sucks. Hand-egg is also not my thing, but I can appreciate the work that goes into playing it. That **** is brutal. Fun to play, but I just don't care to watch it.

But I love baseball. I absolutely understand why a lot of people don't, though. It definitely can be boring if you don't understand all the little things that go into it. It's a game of nuance and most people, especially those who never played seriously, never think about the dozens of little, split-second decisions that go into every single action... no matter how routine it seems. That's the part of the game I love.

Baseball is just boring to watch, it's slow and while there is nuance to every applied task,  it requires too much pre-game knowledge to understand..

For example, you'd have to understand at least some of the each individual players to understand the strategies they apply..

To an outside audience, that would be impossible..

Whereas in something like basket ball,   well it's obvious , the ball moves  one guy seems much better than another guy at making the ball move and putting it in the hoop..

Add in alcohol,   = fun to watch

By the way, if you want to watch a weird sport, go watch cricket. Some of my British friends patiently tried to explain it to me, but they might as well be speaking gobbledegook. It's like the prehistoric version of baseball with an absolutely ridiculous amount of jargon  .

To be completely honest I have more fun watching baseball and golf. But then again I've played on a team as a kid, and I've teed off a few times--I think most fans of those sports have played at some point in their life. I'll join in for a few games of football but I don't like to watch.
