How come all the bad guys in movies have full-auto rifles

The question is why do the bad guys have super high-tech wonderful weapons that always miss, while a good guy can take out a bad guy from 300 yards with a worn-out snub-nosed revolver?

While twisted around from the passenger seat of a motorcycle on a gravel road.

And why, when your gun is empty, with the monster practically on top of you, why do you throw it at him?
