I tried this for the first time at an unexpectedly nice place in the mountains of West Virginia on a recent road trip.  The place used way too much rice and wrapped it all the way around instead of serving it over rice, but it was really tasty.

Rice is great with spam, because it balances out how very-salty regular spam is..

Spam lite (low sodium) is better as a solo-eats..

Spam is also great in Fried Rice.. don't need to add salt..

step 2: buy rice

If you're using a pan instead of a wok.  You need to fry smaller amounts at a time, don't lay it on too thick, or the rice won't fry properly.

The moisture needs to escape rapidly,  otherwise may result in a mushy end texture.

It's alright fried.

We used to have it out in the field with BBQ sauce and egg in sandwiches as a change from rations.

I love luncheon meat with fried rice. Then I tried the brand Spam, and I didn't like Spam one bit. Yes, I fried it as usual (in fact I didn't know of anyone eating it raw out of the can. That's gross) and maybe it's just different taste but nope, didn't like Spam.

Spam is awesome.  The trick is to cut it into thin slabs if you have the canned kind, then fry it.  Mmmmmm sooo good with eggs  :p :p :p :p

Cold, not so good.  You gotta fry it.  Spam musubi looks awesome, might need to make that.

I thought cold it was literally cat food..  I felt like a cat in the condition I was in.

I can totally understand that.  Oh, also good chopped up and fried with potatoes.  The salt and fat from the spam does wonders to potatoes.

But, like, really good dog food tho...

For real spam is great camping food. A little hot sauce and you can add it to anything. Mac n cheese, eggs, other stuff... It's versatile. I think of it like tofu for non vegetarians

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

marmite and vegimite is literally leftover yeast sludge that the rest of humanity would call garbage. When beer is made, that is the nasty black ooze that is leftover in the tank, they scrape it off the sides and sell it in stores. Really nasty stuff.

Do they add salt to vegemite / marmite, or does it come out of the tank salty.

They dig it out of a vegemite mine, and because it's been underground for thousands of years it has absorbed a lot of salt from the groundwater.

Come to the Waikiki Spam Jam http://spamjamhawaii.com/. You just don't know how to prepare it  :p It can even taste great cold, if prepared right. Not many canned foods taste good straight out of the can. Spam is an ingredient in a whole dish, like any other food. Maybe I'm just biased since I grew up with it as a part of my everyday food culture. Spam is ****ing delicious!

This one is even worse

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2016/10/13/britons-freak-out-over-shortage-disgusting-black-spread/91985110/

marmite?  Is it that bad?
You can't even imagine how bad it is. It's like spreading tar over your bread. Its disgustingness is virtually beyond description.
Considering this and your opinion on real ales, your citizenship needs to be revoked twice!
