Hi, Fellow MIUIers,
Mi Home has released Yuemi Mechanical Keyboard in home.mi.com priced at 299 Yuan. The keyboard comes in a white polycarbonate shells that’s backed by an aluminum shell. The inclusion of an aluminum shaft on the inside, however, takes its toll on the weight. The keyboard is quite heavy at 940g. That’s nearly the weight of the 12 inch Macbook Pro.
Nevertheless, the sole aim behind it is to make the keyboard sturdy so that it can survive occasional falls. Yuemi claims that the aluminum frame on the inside has undergone anodized surface blasting that results in a surface hardness of H32. The keyboard is designed to be ergonomic, sporting a stand that props it up to an angle of 6° preventing your hands from aching wen using it for long hours. Its key caps are made of translucent poly-carbonate + ABS resin white color design. The characters printed on the keys are wear resistant and the caps can be replaced, allowing owners customise it to their preference.

The TTC Red Switches can withstand up to 50.000 hits and is suitable for gaming. There is also a 32-bit ARM architecture STMicroelectronic master chip on board with a 1000MHz refresh rate, 1ms response time and support for up to 11 key presses without contradictions.

Up front, the Yuemi Mechanical keyboard packs a total of 87 keys that in turn made up of a combination of polycarbonate and ABS resin. It packs a classic red axis arrangement of keys thereby resulting in an effective life of 50 million hits. The keys have been aptly placing too with a thin line separating one from the other. That aside, there’s LED backlighting too for typing in challenging lighting situations. Yuemi claims that their Yuemi mechanical keyboard comes with 3528 LED lamps that have a color temperature of 6500K and six-speed luminance. Apart from that the Caps Lock, Scroll, and Win keys come with a two-tone orange and white backlight.

The Yuemi Mechanical Keyboard can be connected to any devices especially PC and laptops is priced on the higher side at 299 Yuan ($45 approx.) That said, with the rock solid built and backlit keys, it indeed calls for such a price tag. The product is now available for sale on Xiaomi’s Mijia crowd funding platform.

Not much known about it now and the font is beyond horrible but it's nice to see that more manufacturers see potential in mechanical keyboard.
But the price makes it very interesting, specially because of the alu case :)

Liking the design quite a bit. Flip stand, aluminum case, backlight (hoping it's toggleable). Not a fan of the keycap typeface but assuming all the keys/stems are standard that's not much of an issue.

They can produce something of quality at $50 that NO ONE ELSE POSSIBLY can..

They're also maximum corrupt, bribing government officials is an all day thing

If anything,  aluminum IS chinesium alloy..

hahahahahaha

Contrary to popular belief, Aluminum is a low-tier material..  The only reason they're building keyboards out of aluminum instead of other metals, is because of how much softer and weak it is..   greatly reducing machining time..

If you tried to cut something out of steel, for example,  everything would take between 3-5x as long.. and that's only WEAK steel..

Xiaomi got distracted from their Smartphone business?!

I second these are very nice features combination I've seen on the market.

But most importantly, I want ErgoClear or Gateron Black on this design.
I don't care about anything red, and not the unknown TTS if it's producing just red.

With the weight of red, I'll just bottom out; but with black, I'm hovering between keystrokes.
Wishlist: 1) nice thick Alps caps; 2) Cherry profile POM;
More
Wishful-list: 1) We order from keyboard-layout-editor.com; 2) usable Trackpoint module for all keyboards
IBM M13 black
NeXT non-ADB keyboard (AAE)
HHKB Pro 2 HasuBT

It's still not uncommon for Chinese aluminum products to be made of pot metal that's mostly aluminum or some aluminum/cheap metal mix that you can't anodise.  At the price point, I would assume it's cast aluminum, not milled, which is often harder to anodise.

Never heard of Xiaomi.  In any case it would be like saying to buy an Apple keyboard because they make a lot of phones.  ^-^

Milled aluminum is not inherently better..

And generally, all of the alu keyboards are first Cast to the approximate pocket shape, Then milled..

Those pockets are almost 2 centimeters,  having to extract 2cm of aluminum from a solid plate is just Silly.. you can do it,  but why..

Pocketing that deeply is also problematic because the heat might cause warping.  aluminum is really like putty , especially when hot,

Maybe they meant 50.000.000? That's what cherry switches are rated for.

Xiaomi answer me that they dont have more news at the moment, and no sample/reviewer or something for now. So we need to wait a little bit ;)
They will be in touch, when they`ll have some news.  :thumb:

Just curious but, what is it about the font that makes it "beyond horrible"?

Looks pretty standard (for shine-thru) to me.

interesting! I know that Xiaomi puts out some quality headphones on a budget, like their Pistons 2.0 and 3.0. I'll keep my eye out for this keyboard since I'm looking for something new.

Someone posted some videos of the actual keyboard on youtube. It looks really nice IMO, but I still have mixed feelings about the glossy top.

Btw, its already avalible for purchase on gearbest and bangood.
