I don't know about any of you, but when I'm in the design stage of a feature, and I'm trying to think of all the issues (software dev), there is nothing like weed to really open your mind and think of all of the possibilities. But I also don't smoke when I need to get **** done. I guess it all comes from moderation and self control (what little I have), but I definitely don't think we're losing that much productivity. How productive do we need to be? What exactly do you mean by "being productive", anyway? Do you mean going out to experience stuff? Or doing work? Or having hobbies (that don't only include smoking weed)? What productivity are we losing? Like, farming our land?
Problems come with Continuous-use..
Smoke it often enough, your dopamine receptor count lowers.
Which means your base line desires now require more stimulus.
Along with reduced desires, also come with a general reduced ability to Focus.
If you used to find video games fun, By itself, the games will now seem less fun, less enticing.
If you used to find your girlfriend alluring, by herself, she will now seem less necessary.
___ The reality is she looks approximately the same, but your ability to feel motivated by her is lessened, because a stronger stimulus is now needed for you to be excited about doing (anything at all)..
Now continue the drug use for months/ years, if you're consistent enough.. your brain activity will dampen to the point where the only thing you're capable of is - just chill -..
Nothing good or bad.. it's just how the system works..
Take a google at brain scans of long term users, there is a marked drop in brain activity.
This is synonomous with ALL drugs which act on the pleasure centers/ dopamine regulation.
Of course marajuana is not as quick at disrupting the brain as say , heroin or meth.. But the path and end game is the same.
