Anyone else thought these females' arms and legs are way too thin to portray (GREAT Amazon Warriors) ?   







Why didn't they train up a cast with lots of muscle like in the (2006) 300, which cost even less money to make.. ?

It was just against expectations,   because I expect to see some beefy women in these rolls,  and they're all thin trendy types..

pretty sure arms and legs together is at least 20% of total mass,  and roughly 50% of visible area in any single axis..

But.  still..   I feel like they really missed an opportunity to promote Stronger builds for women,   to push back against the very unhealthy body type perceptions of modern marketing..

Muscle mass doesn't equal strength, and if you go look at a lot of professional fighters and other athletes, they are rarely that buff unless flexing or just got done working out. While it is a sign of strength, it also often comes at the expense of agility and speed.

A perfect example is Bruce Lee.

There was actually a bit of digital slimming of the arms in some shots (more to get rid of bingo wings than muscle mass though). As well as hair removal. I agree with you anyway, would have been nice to see some buff girls.

I thought the movie was okay. Not sure why people are saying it's phenomenal. Final boss was good, but then got a bit too cheesy.

Gal Gadot is Wonder Woman, though. Can't imagine someone else as WW.

I think the director is the problem, she has a very poor eye for believable physics and slow mo timing, which is probably the most important thing for Cgi-heavy super hero movies..

For example,  during the scene when WW leaps above the 3 men holding up the armored door, then explosively crash into the bell tower.


At what point did she generate that force..

If she generated that on the ground,  all those 3 men would be dead and flattened..

If she generated it right before she explodes into the bell tower with her arms,  then she would be deflected sideways and only taking out the window of the belltower..


In order to have taken out the entire top all 4 corner supports would need to be broken simultaneously,

She does not have the proper force timing, trajectory, or contact surfaces necessary to perform that move..


I was very disappointed by this..  as these action problems were pervasive throughout the whole film.

Yeah, I agree some of the action scenes were a little odd/wonky looking.

But, it is a movie based on a comic book character. So, I basically go in just looking for a fun and entertaining time. I cut these kind of movies some slack in the realism department.

.....and I will also admit that the main reason I went to see the movie was because Gal was in it. I think she did an amazing job and I cant think of someone else that I would rather see in the role......let alone someone that was pretty muscular too. She is in pretty damn good shape.......not to mention gorgeous.

I really don't get the hype behind this movie, it was a really basic movie that didn't take any chances, make you think, or do anything particularly exciting. Just decent basic action. I suppose it has something to do with people these days blindly loving anything with a female lead.

I didn't get the hype either. My wife and I walked out and we both said it's like any other superhero movie. Feel like we're getting way too many these days. At first it was cool, but now it's like up to five or so a year. I remember when Spider-Man was the first "real" comic book movie in a long while and I was so pumped. Now it's a bit saturated.

Well, Did Tp4 enjoy the movie.. sigh...... I think Tp4 is shallow.. because despite all the movie shortcomings..  Tp4 thinks Gal Gadot is worth watching, regardless of what she's doing..

It could just be 2 hours of her walking and looking at stuff..  with no cgi or any action..  as long as she's in that outfit.. Tp4 would probably buy the bluray..

I think part of it is a woman lead, but my understanding from people I know into comic books, that compared to DC's prior movies, Batman vs Superman, Watchmen, Green Lantern, etc.,  it was a masterpiece. Which, if Suicide Squad was any indication, they are probably right.

Personally, I too thought it was just another super hero movie with a small twist, but formulaic movies are all Hollywood wants to make these days* and I somewhat think the bar has been lowered because of it.


*They're not out of ideas, they're just not willing to risk the money on new ideas. If studios didn't bet the future of their company on every one of them that wouldn't be a problem, but companies are not happy with solid profits, they want huge returns.

Not DC comics themselves, they were referring to DC comics turned into movies that were terrible, enjoyable, but not good movies. Not being into comics, I couldn't tell you more though (I tuned out the rest of the conversation). I actually enjoyed Watchmen, it had an interesting storyline to it, but again, I know people were who not impressed.


I couldn't put my finger on what was wrong with WW's fight scenes until you said it felt stale, that is a perfect description. I also disliked how single/simple minded they made her about tracking down the one guy and being completely oblivious to anyone or anything else going on around her, I think the blame for this falls on the editor.

that's cuz they put them all in the same movies like avenger,  and the heroes lose their identity a bit because they all have similar powers..


I just want ironman 4..  maybe throw black widow in there.. but that's it..

Definitely over hyped. I can expected cheese, boring slowmo scenes with 100s bullets missing and the physically impossible. What has triggered me to this day from that film is Ludendorff (AKA just human) getting IMPALED and then they cut to the ceiling and there isnt a drop of blood.
WTF is the point? They cant show him dying on camera? Would it require CG of him losing his powers? Was it just to remind us its the god slayer blade/set up for when it brakes?

This thread is funny to me. I worked on the film for the best part of this year and saw all the cut changes and all the VFX being slowly versioned up. I always thought the action looked ropey, and they really did cut it and recut it like nobody's business trying to get it to work, making it quicker and more choppy, then lengthening it out again... when it got to the final cut with all final VFX I was like, 'oh, so they never really worked that stuff out I guess'... Then it was really well received and I was really ****ing surprised.

I think the Politics of it being a female lead + female directed   was primarily responsible for the critical backing.

While certainly it's important to do that in order to open the gate on more talent outside of pretty faces..
