i really like buying keyboard stuffs. please advise
« on: Mon, 31 July 2017, 00:02:43 »
idk if y'all remember but i made a post a while back about buying too many keyboard things recently, and i think i am starting to curb my buying habits.

however, the model f group buy and the e6-v2 are trying to prey on my wallet at about $450 per.

i have always wanted to try click capacitive buckling spring, but never really liked the layout. i want to support a great community buy and i can even pay this in increments which is an extremely gracious thing for ellipse to do.

the e6-v2 is also a very cool keyboard with lots of cool things about it along with great quality and a maker with a very good track record of works whom i also want to support.

what do you guys think about me joing either of these two buys?

I personally will be joining the e6-v2 buy (I think), just because I prefer linear switches to buckling spring, and with the e6 I have the option to customize my board a bit more than I might the new model Fs.

I've heard great things about the new Model F boards too, as I've had friends who had tried one at a meetup and loved it.

And also, if you're into artisans, finding them for buckling spring boards is definitely harder and (usually) more expensive.

The only reason I suggest one instead of the other, is because you mentioned wanting to curb your spending habits. While of course buying one or the other might not be curbing your habits, it might be good to decide which one you'll get more use out of and appreciate more.

I hope this helps a little :-)

Imagine the first spoons.

probably made of wood or reeds or something.

Eventually we had metal spoons,

We don't see anyone raging about metal spoons because of its ubiquity.

But hundreds of years back,   a well forged/ decorated set of silverware would've been iconic of wealth and opulence.

This type of thing comes in waves.  It's somewhat unique today to have a keyboard made of metal..   but give it time and the ubiquity will make such novelties worthless..

How does this affect you..   Can you grow $300.   most definitely..

Can you grow a slab of aluminum..  ONLY by selling it to suckers..

Don't be a sucker..

I don't see why people are suckers if they buy something they thoroughly enjoy. To me that's not money wasted, that's an object gained that can provide you with satisfaction.
I don't care what class I am in, what I do care about is the quality of my life.
My wife's father sacrificed everything for money. The **** I could tell you that man has done to save a buck, it's insane. They barely had a childhood.
I don't want to live like that, and to me that's not being a sucker that's me living my life.
TP you need to get out more. If you actually spent time with people you'd see that people are complicated beings that come in all shapes and sizes who have different goals in life. I feel like your world view is very narrow.
