Hurricane Sandy about to destroy DC and NY.  I know I'm losing power where I am, but shouldn't be too much damage.  Who else is going to get hit?

Good luck, stay safe! My sister is in DC, so hopefully it's not too bad.

CT is already in a state of emergency, and the storm hasn't even hit yet...

I'm already prepared for the storm.  Imma blaze for days through this hurricane craze...

Good luck everyone who is affected!

I hope you and your families and keyboards come through unscathed.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. People who buy generators "just to be safe" and plan to return them are freaking stupid.

Generators need to be broken in, and thoroughly Tested, OTHERWISE they're freaking dangerous... It could blow up, take out a knee cap, 1 or both testicles.... an eye....

And on what planet do you find bog standard engines that only do this when mounted in a generator?  If this were true then it would be just as likely for leaf blowers, chain saws, lawn mowers and a dozen other common gas powered tools to be mangling and maiming people.

My wife I a also push her button . But now she have her button push by a different men. So I buy a keyboard a mechanicale, she a reliable like a Fiat.

Here in Boston the wind has picked up noticeably in the last hour. The subway system is going to shut down at 2:00 PM. Time to find and test all the flashlights.

In CT they shut down the highways at 1PM.  At work they told us to be off the premises by noon.

Stamford announced evacuations last night... and yet at 12:40p my office said they're still open.  Even with the road closures and the fact that the data center is powered off.  crazy.

My power actually went out 6 times already.  Cumulative time off is about 30 seconds.   As long as the flickering doesn't cook any of my stuff I'll be happy.

Leaf blowers, chain saws, and lawn mowers, ALL fall under things you should TEST thoroughly..  Small engines are Dangerous, PERIOD. Especially now that more and more are sourced cheaply from China with VERY questionable material safety standards.

Power flickered a few times here in Waterbury around 1pm, but has been stable since then. Wind has definitely picked up in the last hour or so though, so we'll see how the rest of the day and night go.

The wind is brutal... probably isn't the best time for me to go outside for a cigarette, is it?

It's never a good time for a cigarette.  They give you cancer.

Wind is picking up here but nothing troubling at all.  Haven't lost power or anything.

I just charged up my laptop back up batteries, about 15 hours total between 3 batteries. I also got a UPS that can power my laptop for about 30 hours.

And my trusty Sprint 4G dongle.. ;D
