I notice that I tend to use only 3-4 fingers on either hand when I touch type. If only I had listened in school and learned the home row
you don't need the home row... but, which finger "arn't" you using... there are only 4 fingers and 1 thumb... are you only using 3 fingers + thumb?
and which hand do you spacebar with...
I press the space bar mostly with my left thumb. The ring finger on both hands tends to get the least amount of use.
hm... ring finger should handle w s x and o l , the "w" and "x" doesn't really matter, they're rare letters, but "o" and " l " and "s" are pretty important transitions, i mean "o" is a vowel..
Standard spacebar rule is right thumb, because that balances the load between your fingers
The most common last letter in a word in order of frequency
E, S, T, D, N, R, Y, F, L, O, G, H, A, K, M, P, U, W
More than half of all words end with
E ,T, D, S
as you see, because most words end in left hand letters, it is also advantages to use right thumb for space-bar to provide faster transitions.
also, on top of ending letters....
The most common first letter in a word in order of frequency
T, O, A, W, B, C, D, S, F, M, R, H, I, Y, E, G, L, N, O, U, J, K
So you see,, right thumb space bar just HAS to be done.
