The build quality of the QFR is......
« on: Sat, 15 June 2013, 11:28:58 »
Undisputed. Keyboard works like new, cant say the same for some of those imsto pbt caps. Next time you have a huge blowout with another individual, throw your keyboard at a door as hard as you can and make it count for science. Then, post a pic and share the results here!

I am looking forward to this becoming a picture thread of people throwing keyboards at their doors. Or when you offer buying advice to someone like "yea, it's pretty good, but it already breaks most likely after throwing it at your front door two times. So don't take it".

people keep bringing up the aluminum as potentially more lethal, or deadlier than the plastic.. I'm here to let everyone know this is NOT true.

The aluminum board is very heavy..   it's too heavy to pick up and swing quickly..

the plastic case, plated board is nimble and capable of quickdrawing.

If you'd imagine the aluminum board as a heavy cannon, it takes too long to fire,  while the guy holding a regular quickfire is akin to a guy with a regular revolver, he'll draw and kill the guy trying to light his cannon before the cannon fires.. and have time to get out of the way even if it does fire... :D

If I could get enough force behind mine, no door would stop it.
5.5 pound slab of aluminum vs. a cheap housing track door? That's not even a challenge.

A plastic case may be more nimble, but they can also break and don't carry much force with them. Get mine moving and it will break bones.

This is why I do not want a detachable USB cable  :))

In reality though , I do not throw consumer electronics or PC hardware/peripherals at people.  If thrown at me, I would catch it, pause for a second, then make a face like

we're arguing two very different things.

Lets say the door is a stationary castle... Sure a cannon works against a stationary castle better because you have lots of time to fire it

But how often do you do siege attacks, vs how often you want to atk a human... there the nimbleness of the lighter quick drawing weapon has advantage...

It's very unlikely that you'll ever be trying to beat down a door with a keyboard.

But, you may have to beat down a person.. this can be a regular thing even ...

Yes, quite an astute analogy here. Go for alum. case if you are all about heavy ordnance, and targeting a fortified position such as the front door of your apartment. If aiming for your fiance's head, a plastic case bolstered with steel plate mounted switches is preferred.

If you can't throw a keyboard made of aluminum quickly you're either very sick, very old, or need to go to the gym more.

If we were talkin steel, or tungsten, or depleted uranium or somethin I could see the too heavy to throw quickly argument, but even a below average person should be able to throw that much aluminum.

EDIT- Yep, we will argue about pretty much anything

Sounds pretty much spot on.. baby a QFR and it just fails out of the blue thanks to defects they still haven't bothered to fix. And gods help you if it's non-linear switches.

Xbox 360 = QFR
N64 = Al cased TKL or fullsize

(Attachment Link)

Sounds pretty much spot on.. baby a QFR and it just fails out of the blue thanks to defects they still haven't bothered to fix. And gods help you if it's non-linear switches.

? most people would just buy another one..

and if you're male and you can't fix a keyboard.. man card.. drop it....

This

Yes. Because obviously I pay for a keyboard and a 2 year warranty for the express purpose of having to spend my time and more money to fix shoddy QC and defects the manufacturer can't be bothered to fix after admitting to them.

Morons.

I never said anything about killing, people get shot all the time and live. How many times was Tupac shot?

If you have to resort to a keyboard to defend yourself, you're already in big trouble.
