i love sitff switches reason for now using green cherry, sociecity (mean ppl around me at work doesn't appriacate sound of buckling spring but somehow they tolerate green ones...). blues are cool too but green just feels right;)

The Blacks and Clears have different numbers of coils. And as someone who owns Blacks, Clears, Ergo Clears, and a keyboard with Blacks/Reds with Clear springs, I think I can say with authority that the Clear spring is heavier than Black.

Yes,they are almost near but Tactile heavier than Linear

I have blacks and red but not for clear,unfortunately

Personally I just can not deal with the heavy , stiff switches. They literally hurt my fingers. I am also a fairly light typer and I think that over the years, I am just starting to type lighter and lighter.

My first mechanical keyboard was the Steelseries 7G, and although I like how it felt, in the end it was just too stiff and rigid for me. After using almost exclusively 45g switches since then, it might feel even worse now. I remember that it felt especially bad for my pinkies whenever I spent a lot of time typing with few breaks.

main problem with stiff switch is that most keyboards are NOT stiff when we're growing up, so most people's typing technique is NOT adapted to stiff switches.

Fro stiff switches, you need Quick attack and release. This way your fingers will not tire, it's like typewriters and pianos.

for softer switches you have lots of "mush-room" because you can just meander through the keys.

If you try to mush down a stiff switch without quick-attack, you will tire your fingers pretty quickly.

In order to train my fingers properly for the two Model M's I have incoming, I'm using a Ducky Pro with MX Greys at work.

I also use a military surplus Marquardt keyboard, the weight keeps people from borrowing it off my desk.

How are you liking the greys?

The MX Greys are nice, but some of that could certainly be because of the uber-thick dyesub caps on the DK9008G2. These keyboards come with the thickest Cherry-compatible set I've ever tried, they don't have that "scratchy PBT feeling" at all.

I find the Greys even harder to bottom out than the MX Clears, the springs do feel stiffer. But again, I haven't swapped keysets around to do a real blind test, I'm just alternating between the TG3-BL82 with Clears and the Ducky board for quick impressions.

I'm going to give the Grey board a try for a couple of weeks, get some mileage on it so I can properly gauge it versus the Clears. I also got a DK9008G2 with Clears, but that's out on loan already. That would be a better comparison board, as it has the identical keycaps.

How would you classify typing on Clears vs. typing on MX Blacks in terms of subjective effort? I know they are very different, but I'm wondering if the effort is similar--mostly because it's easier to bottom out Blacks and not so easy to bottom out stock Clears. I've only tried stock MX Blacks and 62g ergo-Clears, as I swapped Clear springs out right away. So I never really got a good feel for stock Clears. Just trying a couple of left-over switches on their own feels like they are not terribly heavy vs 62g Clears or stock Blacks.

For me, subjectively, 62g Clears are significantly tougher than stock Browns, but still easier than MX Blacks.

When I got my keyboard with MX Greens, I loved it. Just felt right, the perfect step up from my first mechanical board, the Noppoo Choc Mini with MX Browns.

Now, after trying other key models, I think the Green board is far too loud. It's not as "pingy" as the MX Blue board I tried, but it's definitely audible to my friends when I'm Skyping or gaming with a team.

I've given quite a bit of thought to my ideal switch type, for the ErgoDox kits I'm piecing together, and I suspect I'll settle on either MX Whites or MX Clears. But for a full-size keyboard, it's going to be difficult to choose just one... $:-\$

I'd like to try some of the stiffer switches in the future, and I do plan on eventually buying a MX Green board (because I like MX Blue so much). So far I've only used MX Red, Brown, and Blue.

If you like MX Blues, and want something with stronger switches, I think you'll really like the MX Greens. I was really impressed by them when I tried them for the first time.

There are a couple of MX Green boards for sale in the Classifieds, last time I looked. Cheap(er) way to try that switch type.

I received my Pro2 with Clears on just yesterday and I love it. Coupled with the amazing PBT keycaps, they truly are special, Ducky did a great job on them on thickness and feel. I always felt the Browns could be a bit stiffer, to at least the 55g level the 60g of the Clears is perfect. I think 80g would be a bit too much for my liking.

As someone else mentioned, fast and hard strokes are the way to go. My fingers are quickly catching up to the additional 15g.

I think Clears are my favorite switch. I make the least amount of mistakes on it and the noise level is acceptable in most settings.

I was hesitant on greens at first, because my trial of black switches was somewhat tiring. However, greens have been quite pleasant to not be pressed so easily as with blues, and without the annoyance of the black's linear nature.

The only fatigue happens with a lot of typing (on top of my zinc alphas), where switching back to my blues would be more beneficial. But for general usage and purposes, I prefer stiffer and tactile. I'll have a better viewpoint once I get around to trying whites and clears, and seeing where they fit in my preferences.
