Camping.. Worst thing ever...

Humans spend thousands of years getting the fff out of that jungle.. and the stupid hipsters want to go back...

Camping is awesome.
Especially if you have a couple dogs that love it too. Nature is awesome dude.

In the woods there are::

---No hot showers.....

---No Fiber Internet....

---No Air Conditioning.....

---Diseased Bugs, (Ticks/ mosquitos)

---Poisonous Snakes

---Poisonous Plants

in --addition-- to the time spent on purchasing the Camping-Gear,  Packing the Gear, DRIVING to the camp-site..

You spend all this time/money just to go be Uncomfortable and Inefficient in the woods..

We don't have poisonous snakes or plants so that's not really a problem and all the other things you mentioned are the reason we go into nature (except tics, which don't really like human blood any way). To get away from all of that and just have a couple days of peace and tranquility where you can recharge a little. It's amazing.

But what you are doing did not solve any of your problems.. and at best it's a Vastly Expensive diversion that lasts but a moment.

Camping in no ways optimizes the Digital lifestyle we now must accept..

Expensive? **** man it's obvious we don't live in the same country, camping here is NOT expensive. Not unless you need to buy ALL of the equipment. Which I am assuming people who like to camp don't.
I need the peace to solve the problem in my life, I need peace and quiet. Camping might not solve it, but indirectly it helps to solve problems by giving me a little breather and time.
People who don't like camping will never understand what it's like for those who do.

COMCAST!!!  Down with an outage in my area yet again with no explanation and a 6 PM ETA for service restore (3+ hours from now).  Tethering via USB on my iPhone at the moment to keep some level of sanity.

Roommates cat brought in a rabbit it killed and is just letting it eat the rabbit in the living room. Says he will clean up when the cat's done. I am not super happy with that.

How big is this cat? That's pretty impressive.

I mean it's extremely gross but I never thought of a cat being able to take out a rabbit.  :o

I'd have to agree with tp4 this time.

Plus all that natural fresh air and sun shine.  Wind burn.  Sunburn.

Mosquitoes.

And spiders everywhere.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I approve of this post, when anyone suggests let's go camping!...My first thought is you want to basically live like a slightly more advanced caveman for awhile?...How is that enjoyable?

Where you have stuff lurking that can kill me at most corners?

Don't get me wrong Australia is a beautiful country, but i would never be camping outside at night there.  At least where i live (USA,MA) it's nasty outside and boring but not much poisonous or deadly here to worry about.

I have no shame in admitting i'm that guy who would much rather be at his desk rather than outside in a tent overnight...regardless of the location.

Remember to wash your garlic crushers IMMEDIATELY after use people.

Also speaking of that above which people are saying tp4 got muted, what the actual **** mods (First time I have ever said much to you lot) but that ****ty of you to do and I'm going to call exitfire out on that bull**** (if it was actually you)it was in offtopic and you basically censored him from saying anything else, but at the same time don't do it to others weighing in a situation in for example a groupbuy gone south.

Nice work Mod team you actually are communist like people always kept saying.

But on the up and serious if that actually was you exitfire that muted him, you need removing from position as a mod, or auditing because that real ****ty to do.

Also speaking of that above which people are saying tp4 got muted, what the actual **** mods (First time I have ever said much to you lot) but that ****ty of you to do and I'm going to call exitfire out on that bull****
Ah, mr NSFW Text strikes again.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Nice work Mod team you actually are communist like people always kept saying.

But on the up and serious if that actually was you exitfire that muted him, you need removing from position as a mod, or auditing because that real ****ty to do.

That was a joint decision between several members of the moderation team. In accordance with site policy, three warnings within a month for similar offences is an automatic mute. As far as I'm able to tell, none of those warnings were for content, they were all for repeated inflammatory posts.

i've been drinkign so much lately and i feel so bad about everything. my father died in december, my house was robbed and my camera was stolen in february, and my girlfriend broke up with me two weeks ago. my grades this semester were better than i expected them to be but i could have done so much ****ing better than what i ended up getting. i don't know how to get over my ex and i feel like nobody else cares about me and the party i went to last week resulted in somebody diminishing the mechanisms i use to deal with depression and i feel like major **** for being the h****typ erson that i ma. i didn't get anlytihgn i ordered from berserkfan and i'm involved in that fiasco and all the drama resulting, which would be entertaining to me normally, is entirely too exhausting and draining for me to deal with. i'm so tired of everything and i wak eup every day feeling tired. i don't want to deal with anything anymore,gh

repeated inflammatory posts

Nobody wants to inhibit "free speech" but the line needs to be drawn when it "gets personal" .....
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

Gotta find a healthy way to channel that energy. As tired as that method may be; it really helps.

If you are going to go ahead and mute TP, you should probably mute rootwyrm as well because he posted more than enough insults directed at tp. Tp initially was standing up for beserkfan, trying to stop the witchunt which happens all too often on here.

Yes, beserkfan probably didn't realise the sheer scale of issues he was going to face, and I'm not standing up for him at all, but tp is not the only person in this who is in the wrong. He initially started by calling out rootwyrm's mistakes, but did eventually start calling him names which really isn't very nice.

But if you look through rootwyrm's posts, calling someone mentally ill is not very nice either, and if you want to say "LOL IT'S THE INTERNET WE AREN'T NICE PEOPLE" then you should probably go back to 4chan and not try to be in a community.

tp was not the only one in the wrong, and while his posting has always been questionable, it seems like a very drastic measure to up him to 70% warning.

My final thought is on moderator warnings. When I got mine, it was an automated message that didn't really tell me what I had done, or anything. I've not been muted, but I would hope that tp got an actual message from someone in the mod team and was able to have a conversation and apologise for his posts before being muted.

I do appreciate what the mods do as it really is a thankless task. But, yeah. ^^^^^^^

This is my exact point. It's fine doing it on twitter or whatever where these people are idiots, but if you want a community to work properly you can't just go "LOL JUST WALK AWAY".

There are idiots EVERYWHERE even here!(me) Stop isolating a type to a certain place. Just because you are socially inept, isolated, or close minded doesn't mean everyone conforms to one personality, standard, or morality. Whatever the hell you want to call it. Variety is the spice of life and you have to live with it, good or bad and you have the choice to ignore either. Also, what do you define as a community that works properly? Because it seems like the attitude here is "I don't like that person, so get rid of them"
The main issue here is people should stop taking themselves so seriously. It's absurd how people get overly defensive about something they took to heart.

I sincerely don't give a ****, but when you guys start getting ass hurt over something It's so funny I have to point it out.
