Life, I just want a break. The past two weeks have been hectic. I have jury duty right now and I feel like this is going to take forever.
Why didn't you postpone it?
I did three times.
Is there a limit?
If not. I'd just push it off endlessly
I remember when I had jury duty. When they asked if we had any statements to make about any biases we might have I told them the truth. My particular jury pool was for a fender bender in which one party was claiming "emotional trauma," or some stupidity like that.
I told the judge and lawyers that I felt that was incredibly childish and ridiculous, and just another stupid way for people to rob each other. Lost wages, cost of repairs, stuff like that is tangible and can be quantified to a dollar amount. "My feelings are hurt and I want money because I got into a crash" is so damn ridiculous a total waste of time for just about everyone involved (except the lawyers, who get to shuffle money around, contribute nothing of importance, and take a huge cut of the jumbled-up cash amount).
After I gave my brief explanation the judge asked if anyone else felt that way (even though no one had spoken up before) and most raised their hands. I was not called to serve as a juror on that case.
