I don't know why it rustles my jims but these two types of posts in GB threads:
1. "Gah why did I miss this Group Buy - is Round 2 happening?" (After the GB has closed/shipped/finalised by users who have just joined)
2. Are there any extras available?? (often on extremely limited GBs where any extras would have disappeared immediately)
Personally, since I am not an MX fanboy I have almost completely ignored the "group buying universe"
It always looks impossibly convoluted and every thread is a years-long avalanche of TL;DR that makes my eyes glass over. I don't even know how to plunge into that mode of thought if I wanted to. About 4-5 years ago I bought a moogle kit in a Hashbaz group buy and all I remember is that I picked what I wanted, sent money, and some months later I got a package in the mail. It is still in the bag unopened in my spare key box.
Now, I find myself wanting something. It looks like XMIT will have a tactile version of his Hall Effect keyboard available sometime in the next few months, and I plan to get one. The stock caps are horrible, and it looks like there was a really nice replacement set that came out a few months ago that I would love to have.
But, since I was not in the right mode at the right time, and willing to read through hundreds of vapid posts about the same thing, I will not be able to get it.
I know that I am proving your point, and that "if you snooze, you lose" and all that, but it is still unfortunate. I don't want to say what it is that I want, because that could help drive the price and availability barriers even higher, but it seems that the popular sets would often go into regular production.
