What do you really want but can't justify purchasing?
« on: Mon, 11 November 2013, 02:18:25 »
As per the title what are you lusting after but can't pull the trigger on? Post pics so we can feel your pain!

At the moment I'm badly wanting a Hammer case for my Pure but I'm waiting to see how the Vortex case GB shapes up before I put down that kind of money. Would also love one of the LE Cherry G80-1865 to get a new set of the WoB caps but they're about $250 shipped :|

It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

You could totally justify that....

both good products, and priced accordingly.

An hhkb, but just got my poker 2 with hyperfuse set + sprit's case on the way.

Also want a wood wrist rest. I already have a ducky one that works just fine.

translucent click clack. They are so damn sexy.

But I can't justify spending hundreds of dollars when I could literally buy a fully built custom board for the same price. lol

Yeah I'll definitely wind up with one of my 60% boards wearing one but I have too many other purchases lined up at the moment. Once I have my FACE60 boards built I'll probably flog off my Pure and use the money to partly fund the Hammer.

Vortex aluminium case, of course I need to check that it would fit, so comparing my keyboards to the filco/CM tkl boards with a ruler is a must :)

RealForce TKL 55g with yellow keycaps (and ideally aluminium case).
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

In the same boat. Things definitely seem to be picking up speed regarding PCB's and cases for the DIY route though which is good. When I first started looking through GH pretty much everything was bought through GB's but now we have a great set of vendors to buy through.

It's not the most expensive or the best, but it's got good hardware and it's upgradable. I just don't have enough vinyl albums to justify it yet..

Nice! But I think the Carbon will be enough for now. The tone arm and cartridge really bring it into Audiophile territory while still being "affordable".

Do I even want to know a price on that turntable?

Nope. About as much as a Topre board full of CC's. Okay, not THAT much, but still, a lot. About 10x the price of the Carbon.

Something else I want: Jule Amps Monique bass guitar preamp.

actually the pro-ject range are very reasonable, the decks start as low as around £150 (on offer) I think that one is about £350 but I could be wrong, not that bad.
Not totally suitable for my vinyl needs, I would have to blow some serious dough on a pair of these (now that SL1200/1210 are no more)
