Anyone ever thought what if?

Or maybe look around and wonder what am I doing here?

If you could change what would you do instead?

I'd be a professional photographer if I could change/do anything.  When you work a 10 hour day one day, then 12 hours the next and want to come back the next day to do it some more, you know you've found something you love.  Sure, it was work and a pain at times, but working for my university's PR department as a photographer was the most enjoyable job I ever did.

And if I could go back and change anything, it would be to apply to UCI or some other school for grad school instead of the University of Washington.  I absolutely love the friends I made in grad school and miss the hell out of them, but UW was horrible and the only professors who were awesome and more progressive theoretically speaking were those on the fringes.

And sometimes I think it would be awesome to be a housecat.  You'd see many things you wouldn't want to, but life would be good.

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Don't you need a wallet first?

I don't carry a wallet either.

I velcro taped my id and credit card together at a slight offset.. so i have this one card in my pocket which can slide for the machine.. and that's it.

I rarely ever use cash except for when I need quarters for the arcade.

I honestly don't like cash.. It's so dirty.. I don't want to touch it... it's a cotton fiber that 100s of people touch, and never wash...

No thanks...

I'm not trying to be stuck up about it... (I've been accused of when I've said the dirty thing about cash).... It's just a FACT that cash is dirty when you think about it..

Same thing goes for Carpets... disgusting... imagine a sock.. that you really can't wash.. even with the machine, it only gets to the surface.

I'm not a clean freak at all.... it's just certain specific things that I find terribly dirty..

IF it were possible:

- I'd choose to live 250-400 years in the future
- I'd have had more of a social life in high school
- I'd be less lazy (blame it on my ADD)

Id like to be almost exactly the same as I was and am, but with one exception. Id like to have an omniscient ghost girl that rode around on my shoulders and would slap me on the head and say "youre ****ing up" whenever I was about to make a bad decision.

Not even for just the big stuff like doing something that stops your best friend being murdered. Even small decisions like when youre buying gas and you have to decide to get a full tank now or just get like a quarter tank in hopes that gas will be cheaper tomorrow.

Anyone ever thought what if?

Or maybe look around and wonder what am I doing here?

If you could change what would you do instead?

My standard answer is Bikini Contest Judge, but my serious answer would be that I dream of being an acclaimed fiction writer.

Honestly, I'm pretty happy doing what I do. Sometimes I wonder what I'll do when it's time to retire -- anyone here every wonder about a retirement business? I was thinking of opening up a coffee/used book store, or an "artsy" movie house. Some small business that wouldn't make me a lot of money, but would keep me busy. Either of those two businesses would likely put me in direct contact with socialists on a daily basis, so I really need to rethink this idea.  :D

Oh, also, I'd like to have a family "compound" -- like the Kennedy's but with pants and no driving off bridges.

There's so much to imagine in that exchange. I imagined I would be brushing a lion's mane, or dreaming up ways to enrich the feeding of gorillas by hiding the bananas in puzzles, etc. Instead, I learned just how accurately monkeys can fling their poop, was chased by an enraged ostrich and wrangled snakes.

Dreams = Crushed.  :D

I wish I was a Zoo worker and was able to work with animals daily! :(
I actually have volunteered at a local zoo, it wasn't as I imagined

Thats awesome you volunteered! They allow people to volunteer here as well but youd be picking up trash or cleaning the animals pen and things like that. What Id like to do is feed the animals and watch after them, the fun stuff!  :p

Dreams = Crushed.  :D

I learnt that llamas can spit just as accurate as monkeys can aim with their poop, but that wasn't the deal breaker for me.. the zoo actually made volunteers clean the place whole day, not a single connection with the animals which were the first reason I volunteered there.
This sucks more than anything that has ever sucked before.

Hey, at least you learned something, right? Being an unpaid intern sucks, big time. On a related note, I actually was attacked by an ostrich. You would think their beaks are kind of soft; or that they're careful not to damage them.

You'd be wrong, though.

I was at Six Flags in New Jersey, and they have a Safari drive-through with a sign (MONKEYS WILL DAMAGE YOUR VEHICLE). So I'm driving through (avoiding the monkey zone, naturally) when I spy an ostrich off to my left. It comes closer. Magical sort of moment. It's maybe a foot away from the side window and I'm just watching it.

*BAM* I just smashes it's beak into the window, over and over -- terrifying me.

It turns out my girlfriend in the passenger seat was eating something, the ostrich saw it, and thus the attack.

And that's my "I was attacked by an ostrich" story.
