I learnt that llamas can spit just as accurate as monkeys can aim with their poop, but that wasn't the deal breaker for me.. the zoo actually made volunteers clean the place whole day, not a single connection with the animals which were the first reason I volunteered there.
Hey, at least you learned something, right? Being an unpaid intern sucks, big time. On a related note, I actually was attacked by an ostrich. You would think their beaks are kind of soft; or that they're careful not to damage them.
You'd be wrong, though.
I was at Six Flags in New Jersey, and they have a Safari drive-through with a sign (
MONKEYS WILL DAMAGE YOUR VEHICLE). So I'm driving through (avoiding the monkey zone, naturally) when I spy an ostrich off to my left. It comes closer. Magical sort of moment. It's maybe a foot away from the side window and I'm just watching it.
*BAM* I just smashes it's beak into the window, over and over -- terrifying me.
It turns out my girlfriend in the passenger seat was eating something, the ostrich saw it, and thus the attack.
And that's my "I was attacked by an ostrich" story.
