I was mulling over the PS3 250GB black Friday bundle for a few weeks(comes with Last of Us and Arkham Origins,) and these 2 bottles of champagne just put me over the edge. The only games I've played extensivly on the system have been MGS4 and the ICO/Shadow HD remake. Also picked up Tales of Vesperia, Afrika, Journey, and this Uncharted collection that comes with another controller. Will get GT5 and Ni No Kuni soon, but can anyone recommend any good RPGs or good story centric games I may have missed? I was looking at the Persona and Disgea series too, but I dunno how good they are.

(The Dark Souls II collector's edition was the main reason I just bought it)

As a collector I immediately regret not buying the Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch edition last year when it came out. They are going for like $400 now :(

I don't know if you're into them, but I like the God of War series.
Also, I have heard good things about the Little Big Planet series.

Get GT6 over GT5 it's a much better game with more content on the way. MGR is great too, Cathetine is good if you can get it cheap, Katamari Forever is the best version of that series, Shaddows of the Damned is a great game too... Ermm

OTOH, GT6 is full price, unfinished, and has bugs... vs GT5 being cheap as chips and complete! I think it's fair to say that GT5 offers better value for money at the moment :D

No.
GT5 is a great game but requires an insane amount of time put into grinding and b-spec where you play observer to a horrible AI driver in order to progress.
GT6 is a beginner friendly full game with a much better career mode and a properly working progression model that requires no grinding at all, on top of that it's getting monthly updates for free till at least April.

As someone who's finished both, and played 100+hrs of GT5 and probably coming upto 100hrs of GT6... 6 is 100% the way to go, yeah it's full price but assuming you can wait a month or two while playing though other games you missed it will be cheaper and a great deal!

Also Shaddows of the Damned is something everyone needs to play.

Like I said: "at the moment". In a few months the balance might shift, for sure.

For now, there's plenty of GT5 seasonals to get enough credits and XP without feeling like your grinding, plus some decent prize cars (and far more prize cars as you play through A/B-spec as well).

GT6 on the other hand, won't be 'complete' for months! And every time it fails to play my exhaust sound I consider shelving it until they fix the damn bugs! Don't even think about using the stockyard...

$15, or less s/h, vs $40. Like you said, GT5 is still a great game!

Presumably you already have Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, in which case you're already set.

Just play those over and over again.

Still banging my head against a wall having not bought EITHER release of Pier Solar for the Genesis. WTF I already missed out on Last Hope: Pink Bullets AES homebrew and find out about this mega-drive release of Pier Solar far too late. Ugh. I know like at least 2 people in the world will know this pain.

Probably no one on this forum will know what I'm talking about.

I watched my old roommate play through that entire game which was really enough of the experience. But honestly, the same can be said for any game developed by Quantic Dream.

yup... just watch the whole thing on youtube.. don't gotta lift a finger..

I recently watched Assassins creed, brotherhood, and some xcom...

I play enough of the game to understand the mechanics..  Then I read wikipedia to learn of the later play mechanics.. Then I formulate the certain possibilities and how I would approach later levels..

Then I watch someone play the game to compare and contrast..

This way I can fully enjoy the game in 1 to 2 hours.. vs 10+ hours, most of which would've just been grinding to level things and long winded travel time, and dumb cutscenes that I could just read the script for..

I think that's a bit unfair, the story is total **** I'll grant you but it's a pretty unique experience that they cluster-****ed with beyond. If you could get it cheap I'd recommend picking it up because chances are you'll have it play out diffrentaly and get more out of it than you did just by watching.

Flower and Journey are also must play games that just popped into my head

Just out of curiosity how much of GT5 and 6 have you played? I've finished both games (bar B-Spec)

Well you could hardly have finished B-spec on GT6!

Finished GT5 (bar the longer endurance races and some special events), full garage (bar some unobtaniums).

Starting IA on GT6.

Would like to be driving the Diablo GT2 (on RH), the prize for completing IB, but can go 8 secs faster at Motegi in the Re Amemiya RX7 tuned to about the same PP... on SH!! MR2 was a similiar disaster in the physics dept. And no, it's not just my lack of skill - I'm no great driver, but I can be smooth enough.

Ahhh ok your from the 'car/physics is broken' group, I can now see why you prefer an inferior game. If your having problems you should probably have TC on to help you control the throttle. As a DS3 user I have zero problem with any of the cars being 'broken' I just learn how to manage the throttle, a little bit like you have to do IRL ;)

Edit: for the record I'm no perfect driver and make last lap mistakes all the time, but that's on me and not the car I'm driving. I've also read the many tears on GTP.

Also **** iOS 7 it was a huge mistake to get an iPhone 5

^ TROLOLOL

No, I prefer GT6, as in, the bits of GT6 that work correctly. Mastering the improved physics is enjoyable (I play with SRF off, TC 0). But a Lambo that spins on STEADY THROTTLE AND STEER at 40mph on RH tyres is not correct at all. I suppose you think Mito's can reach an inclination of 45 degrees while braking IRL too? Face it, there ARE bugs :(

I can get the GT2 round smoothly, but then I don't get any decent time. What sort of time can you get using it, stock, in the first race of IA (Motegi)?

I just drove a diablo gt2 around Monza in a random iB race and won with ease. I have everything off bar ABS which is set to 1.

I've no problem with any of the MR cars and all it sounds like is your too heavy on the throttle...

When I've had dinner I'll let you know what time I can do, is your gt2 stock and what tires?

I tried various setups, but none were noticably better than stock. So: stock, RH, SRF off, TC 0, ABS 1.

The thing is, I am definately NOT being too heavy on the throttle. It lets go even with just holding the same speed, and holding the same trajectory around the corner. At first I thought it was lift-off oversteer and my fault (and some of it probably was) but that's certainly not all of it.

I could probably drive that tuned Re RX7 on CH more successfully... off to try it! edit: yeah... tricky, but feasible. Only tried a few laps, but the times were coming down. Tried the Lambo after that, and it felt remarkably similar, even though it was on RH :)) Lap time still about the same as when I first tried it... 2:05 vs 2:06 :blank:

Alright well after 4 go's I ****ing give up with it. The car is not the problem, it's the ****ing garbage AI ****ing break checking you and then taking you out in corners.
I was able to do constant 2:02-2:01's and on my 3rd attempt I got 1st on lap 4/5 but on the second to last corner the **** in second place dive bombed me into the gravel and that was that.... This happened the following two times.

I think the problem lies in the make of car, from what I've read and watched of people talking about how Lambo's drive they are not easy, and this is true for most of them I've driven in the game but not true of most of the other MR cars. The way to drive the GT2 and other Lambo's isn't really much to do with throttle control and more with how aggressive you turn into a corner. You have to be gentle as **** with your steering, but the throttle you don't have to worry about so much. It's also very good on the breaks meaning you can break almost to the apex, though trail braking is a bit dangerous because of it spinning out on the exit.

Blah blah blah morral of the story is GT AI continues to be total ****ing **** so you should go with GT6 as it dsnt require insane grinding has better tracks and more cars... With more free content to come.

Just tried it with SS... got 2:01 already (and won, even with a couple of trips into the gravel!). A little more practice and I could get under 2 mins, I'm sure. Surely that's not right?

Anyway, it's lovely on SS - can tweak my line with the throttle etc, etc.

Yeah I'm not sure tbh how the compounds match up, it seems to vary car to car... I imagin that if you find a decent set up you could be just as fast with slicks... But yeah I think without the AI around to take me out id be able to break the 2min barrier as I managed a 2:01 on my opening lap a bunch of times lol

It's not so much the outright pace, rather the balance of the car - much more neutral on SS. When trying to tune it on RH, I was trying all the things that would provoke understeer, to try and balance it, but it just wasn't happening. (SS doesn't feel particularly understeery to me though).

Have you seen the GT6 collector's edition they got in Asia? WTF Polyphonic, Japan, China, and Korea get a kick ass edition with a ton of bonuses and a die cast car, and we just get a Gamestop edition with no bonuses in a metal sleeve? Boooo I say, boooo.

Besides, I can't even find the English Gamestop edition anyway (yeah, I was gonna pay the extra $25 for a metal case.)

Metal case, 20 cars, and 1,000,000 credits. Hadn't seen the GT6 collectors edition, I know they did a GT5 one - that was stupid money
