I typed a long review on how great Renata frozen pizza was and something went wrong posting it. Not doing that again.
Just trust: This is the best frozen pizza I've ever had, try it if you spot it in the grocery store.

If u like sweet potato, just got this @ dat costco.  It's pretty good, SUPER STICKY.

It's like sweetpotato jerky but not the fully dried kind. Bit like twizzler consistency, but without the chemical taste.

It's been a while since I posted something here.

I don't do sushi that often, but I love it and it was time to make some.

Sushi rice looks amazing (soaked, just before cooking).

And it looks like a Herculean effort to me.

You are an artist, Phinix.
Bret Stephens (NYT 2025-03-10) starts with the tariffs, noting that every president since the Great Depression has correctly concluded that the ensuing economic crisis and World War that followed that calamity was attributable in large part to the notorious 1930 Smoot Hawley Tariffs.
That is, until the current occupant of the Oval Office. Until him, no U.S. president has been so ignorant of the lessons of history. Until him, no U.S. president has been so incompetent in putting his own ideas into practice. That’s a conclusion that stock markets seem to have drawn as they plunged following the Trump triple whammy: first, tariff threats against our largest trading partners, spelling much higher costs; second, twice-repeated monthlong reprieves on some of those tariffs, meaning a zero-predictability business environment; finally, his tacit admission, to Maria Bartiromo of Fox News, that the United States could go into recession this year, and that it’s a price he’s willing to pay to do what he calls a “big thing.” In short, a willful, erratic and heedless president is prepared to risk both the U.S. and global economy to make his ideological point. This won’t end well, especially in a no-guardrails administration staffed by a how-high team of enablers and toadies.
But Stephens goes further than simply castigating these pointless and destructive tariffs that Trump has taken such a pathological shine to. He explains how the fancifully created “Department of Governmental Efficiency, (“DOGE”) would be more aptly characterized as an engine of wholesale destruction. Because nothing Musk is doing is about “efficiency.”

Thank you guys :)

I have to say, it is a lot of effort, I mean, I don't have (yet) rice cooker, so need to do whole process "manually". Washing rice first, takes me like 30-40 times rinsing rice to get it clean (yes tp, like you said - washing rice is a MUST :) ), then soaking, then cooking, then cooling. After all that, it takes me good 2 hours (depends on amount and kind of rolls I need to do) to roll that sushi. Whole process is exhausting for me, back always hurt, even after losing a lot of weight, still not an easy task for me. But then, my family and I love sushi, this one, home made, so I can do that once every 4-5 months I guess.

Funny no one gave a **** about pineapple on pizza for 70 years until strangers on the internet told them to.
Used to be (back in my day...) people who didn't like a pizza topping would just shut up and not order that topping, now they feel like they have to shame people with good taste.  ;)

Well, I think you're right, noisy. I remember seeing pineapple on pizza in 90s and nobody commented that.
To be honest, social media and internet let people blow things out of proportion, anything.

Possibly the greatest psychological threat facing the human race today.

It is! Fohat, you have seen things in your life, you have bigger experience than most of use here and you see it too.
There is a saying - human stupidity knows no boundaries.
I keep saying, technology was and is amazing and most incredible thing human kind has invented. But also, it is something that will kill us all...
I mean we will do it through technology. 100%.
Humanity will disappear very soon. Like tears in rain...

True that.

But technology has been harnessed and perverted to dis-educate - and it is becoming harder and harder to discern the truth from the noise.

And educated people, who are best equipped to help prepare their offspring to resist it, are having fewer and fewer offspring.

Egg prices.

See, the most expensive thing about eating Cholesterol Bombs, isn't the egg itself. It's the out of pocket fees for your heart medication, the horrific quality of life, and surgical medical expenses consuming your entire generational wealth, leaving NOTHING for your offspring.

Trying to learn how to make ramen, but with a Midwest laziness and technique. Started by making a broth from a package of meaty soup bones and the fat and bones from the steak we had on Friday. Then I roasted mushrooms in the air fryer and sauted the bok choy in oil. Reheated the steak in the microwave and attempted to plate the “toppings” on top of the noodles. A shot of sriracha cuz I like heat. The “tare” we mixed into the broth is soy sauce, mirin, rice vinegar, ginger powder, garlic powder, and toasted sesame oil.

Not looking to be authentic, just yummy. Stayed tuned because next week we’re making Costco rotisserie chicken ramen.

tiramisu may have one of the widest gaps between garbage level and god like taste of any dessert

I'd say likely 70-80% of tiramisu is bad, cakey, mushy, coffee concentrate flavored trash
But then when you have some really good tiramisu that just hits all those texture and taste balances perfect, for me, it just can't be beat.
I love me some ice cream, doughnuts, and cheesecake, but DAMN do I love me some expertly prepared tiramisu!  :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

tiramisu may have one of the widest gaps between garbage level and god like taste of any dessert

100% agree.
I had many tiramisu desserts, then for a first time I went to Rome and tried it in some of the best cafe's there. AMAZING.
Then went to other restaurants there and those had them again, midiocre. So it depends where you get it, some may make them terrible, some make really tasty.
I bet I will never have such an amazing one in UK.

Imagine what would happen if you try it in Italy.

Yep, I had in in about 3-4 different places and all were great. To be honest, I visited most famous icecream place in Paris and they had it amazing as well, but then tried in other point and it was crap. So yeah, you need to try it everywhere you go and will be able to tell which is really good which not, this is why I love travelling and trying food in all parts of the world.

The Forbidden Rice Sourdough from Whole Foods very much surprised me with how good it was for a store-baked loaf. I put some smoked sage goat cheese and a thinly sliced, lightly salted heirloom tomato on there, damn  :thumb:

Trying out different milk alternatives the next few weeks to see if anything compares to the natural sweetness and creaminess of my beloved Oatmilk.

Pacific Hemp Milk. On par with the thickness/creaminess of oatmilk, maybe more. Although I like higher acidity coffee and notice this stuff really clumps up when added to coffee. Slight vegetal taste, and none of that natural sweetness. I could see using this for cooking though.

Ripple Pea Milk. While I cannot argue with the nutritional benefits from this product and the 0 sugar with the highest protein macros of any milk alternative, I simply cannot overlook the fact it literally tastes like thinned out paint. Ruins the taste of my coffee, and even with the strong flavor of good fresh coffee, I can still taste the paint. Moooving on  ;)

different milk alternatives

I have never had a milk alternative in my mouth that did not almost make me gag.

Orange Cream Coca-Cola tastes nothing like orange and nothing like cream, damn sure nothing like orange cream. Didn't even finish the 20oz bottle, not worth the sugar and calories for something so bad. And the Blackberry Dr. Pepper tastes like medicine.

Just makes me long for the glory of Mango Pepsi. Along with Pomegranate 7-UP and Coke Coffee, it was one of the only flavored sodas I actually enjoyed. All of which are discontinued so I continue to have no reason to buy soda. Not a bad problem to have, but it is just nice to have the option when you want it.

Saying all beer tastes the same is like saying all soda tastes the same. Just a crazy statement.

Warm PBR does taste very much like piss though

no reason to buy soda.

I stopped drinking soft drinks decades ago, with the exception of tonic water, which I kept drinking for a few more years.

The only sweet drinks that I regularly consume are orange and grapefruit juice for breakfast, but I may soon give them up, too. Their skyrocketing prices will make that easier.

Tp4 can not afford dem' pre made Jooce.

Tp4 blends 4x peeled cheap costco apples, into 1 liter of water.  It's not like apple juice, it's diluted to the point where it's like an apple tea, only more sour.

I love good beer, especially heavy ones, but weak beer is awful and undrinkable when warm.

IPAs and stouts are my favorites, preferably bitter and with lots of hops.

But of common generic beers I think that Pabst is one of the better ones, along with Budweiser.  Coors and Miller are the worst.

I don't drink, but I don't "not drink". Stouts and Porters are delicious and Pabst is the best piss-water you can find.

Orange Cream Coca-Cola tastes nothing like orange and nothing like cream, damn sure nothing like orange cream. Didn't even finish the 20oz bottle, not worth the sugar and calories for something so bad.
Back in November, my sister and I found that Fanta Orange here in Europe contained artificial sweetener, so we bought nine types of orange soda and had a taste test, to decide what to drink instead.

Your description sounds like how we thought that Orange Ramune (Japanese soda from Asian food store) tasted like. Nothing like orange. Only vile and synthetic.

Top points went to Lidl's orange soda (Lidl is a cheap supermarket chain all over Europe) and a domestic orange soda called Zingo. We found both just as good, just different. We think that perhaps LIdl's had been made especially to taste like Fanta Orange does.

I had many tiramisu desserts, then for a first time I went to Rome and tried it in some of the best cafe's there. AMAZING.
Then went to other restaurants there and those had them again, midiocre. So it depends where you get it, some may make them terrible, some make really tasty.
The worst coffee I have ever had in my life was from a place next-door from the place in Rome known to have Rome's greatest coffee.

Apparently, they never expected anyone to order coffee from them. (My mum ordered it. She didn't know)

If you took a real orange and made it a soda, it'd be considered vile too. That's why they use artificial, because real oranges are a mid-tier froot.
