Should GH allow only static picture for avatar?

Should GeekHack allow only static picture for avatar?
IMO, the dynamic GIF should be disabled or pre-processed to become a single frame picture before publishing as an avatar.
What is your opinion about that?

I don't care for the anti-Pacifist posts. On his classified thread, on off topic, or whatever. If you really hate him so much, make a thread about it to get all your anger out so we don't all have to hear about it over and over again. It really doesn't do the community any favors.

And as for gif avatars, why do they need banning? It isn't as if you can't just scroll past them. The size limit on avatars already limits how much precious CPU power they will suck from your machine, I don't really see the point in limiting it =/

It is for common interests, hypnosis-free avatar community. Once GH can change the rules, everybody should follow it. There is no hatreds on any particular individual.

Please take their messages as positive contributions like some highlighted points so far:
- Repeatedly GIF avatar may slow down the low-power consumption device
- Repeatedly GIF avatar is really annoying because repetition tends to cause frustration and boredom
- Repeatedly GIF avatar is really hurting the eyes because it is just like hypnosis, it tends to have the post distraction ( when we reading the text next to a movement object repeatedly ),  it may encourage people to scroll faster to ignore the posts because they are afraid of those avatar
