Here in India we love our rice. One variant called the "Kashmiri Pulao" is cooked with tons of dried fruits like walnuts, cashews, raisins, almonds and pistachios along with fresh fruits as well such as pineapple, apple and pomegranate. There's saffron as well, and it's a sweet and salty rice dish. Oh god, I need to make some NOW!

Garlic Rice! tried it in the Philippines years ago and I still dream of them..
there's garlic rice? sounds awesome..I'm gonna look it up.
Here in Singapore there's rice with raisins,sultanas and cashew nuts mixed in..... :thumb:

Yup. They put small slices of fried garlic, not strong, a tint of garlic flavor to complement any other side dishes you are eating the rice with. Simply amazing...
Dried fruits and nuts in rice sounds yummy!  :eek:
It is...usually made for weddings....

Here in 'merica this sounds like a dessert.  I bet it would be awesome if it was made into a rice pudding!

for anyone that doesn't want to find -s-,  just assume it's 0.12

Market forces would push producers to keep moisture level there anyway.. so it's a fine assumption.

I tested 3 different types of rice in the house.. they all fall around 12%..

w = r(p-s)/(1-p)

w = r(p-0.12)/(1-p)

r : weight of rice (g)
s : % moisture level of uncooked rice (may assume 0.12)
p : % final hydration level, ideally between (0.58 and 0.64)
w : volume of additional water (g or ml)

I avoid eating rice if I can.
Most of the modding can be done on your own once you break through the psychological barriers.

You don't have to do this..

as long as you're not stuffing yourself full of it..

Rice is very easy to overeat, especially when people season it with oils and spices..

Overeating is the issue... not the rice itself..

rice has plenty of good vitamins and minerals..
