He had a WTS post, but it was taken down by the mods, probably for breaking rules (he posted a picture of a clack and said to PM offers)
He wasn't even looking for WTB threads. I had a transaction with him in the past in which he sent me and another member the wrong caps. The other member had to send me my caps and I had to sent them theirs. Reptile said he'd make it up to me. I don't remember if he ever did.
Then, out of the blue, a couple of weeks ago, he messages me offering to sell clacks and give me and some of his other "friends" first dibs. On his list were ones that I had previously owned but sold to other members here. Since I would like to own them again as I currently have none I asked for prices but decided he was asking too much at $100 a clack as I had sold mine for about half that.
I had no WTB thread up for clacks. I had made no posts regarding purchasing clacks or that I was looking to own the ones I had sold in the past. He was trying to trade off of his previous 'relationships' with members here. Total dbag move. Karma is a fickle ***** though.
I see, he used the private relationship and PM tactics to scam people privately.
That means whatever offer, he will accept it immediately and lure the buyers into the trap.
The trap here is not only about the price but also the trust that people gave him in the past.
This guys must be very cunning when he can lure people into a fail transaction beyond 500 USD.
Phoenix, I am really surprised that someone like reptile has been able to scam so many people over such a long time. As I have noticed, the artisan keycap world is out of whack. People are just irrational. How can you just do $1.5k in a transaction is beyond me.
This is the first time I have ever heard of this member Reptile. I guess he just doesn't visit the same parts of the forum as I do... but I already visit all, except I never read about clacks. If dustin had posted 'Beware Clack Scam' I would never have bothered to read the post!
You are not the only one, this is also the first time I heard this too. It seems this topic exposed a lot of private scams from him. It is not only about the clacks, he would scam on anything based on people interests.
Nevertheless, someone step in and report him on heatwave.
