Yearly Firefly rewatch.

I should give FF another go. Last time was about 15 years ago when my son was a teenager.

Sure was glad that they made that movie to tie up the loose ends ....
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

Tp4 would do almost anything, anything, even crime, especially crime, if they brought back firefly.

I am too scared to watch alien romulus

Went and saw it just now.

Well put together, it's a very logical progression following the first 2 OG films.

I think if they made it a Netflix series, the franchise could have a much deeper lore. You can tell the movie wants to take the audience in a new direction, and it succeeds in the setup with great CGI and logical execution, but it just doesn't have the time budget to do the deeper story telling.

With each installment of the big films, they've succeeded in leaving the audience with the desire to know more. Maybe a light novel or something.

Alienoid, The Return to The Future.

It's not bad, ties up the first one.  Ambitious Korean attempt at melding traditional Wuxia with Back to the future with Saint Seiya.    The result is messy but watchable.  CGI is cheesy but acceptable.

Watched dat RickMortyanimu.

Now, idk, seems kinda try hard meta.

Time will tell though.  The animations look ok, kinda like superflat, but more budget conscious.

Borderlands 2024,

As an action movie, nothing to complain about,  it delivers,  it's got Claptrap.

The sets, CGI, costume, spot on.

The story is thinnnnnn. We need more netflix in these adaptations.

Inside Out 2.

Adults can understand the analogs they're using, but do kids, who would most benefit from learning the template really get it?

The HDR highlights are really good in this movie, even better than the first.

The Man with 1000 kids.

Finally got to this documentary.

He's not the first person to do this, many kings, emperors , prolific warlords, mongols what-have-you, had harems, something more/less equivalent. Inbreeding is also prevalent in nature.

Not saying it's a good idea.

Just saw dat Twister (2024).

Now, mmm..  They did their best to make what would be a modern mundane into the CGI spectacle audiences crave.  In those terms the film succeeded.

Outside of that, there was just zero story investment, it's basically middle school level worth of, drama, if you could even call it that.

The Review-Journalists printed that the movie lost an opportunity to talk about the Role-of-Climate-Change in making tornadoes/ storms worse and more destructive.  Tp4 agrees, but the movie is so short, how much of an impression could you really make in that time.

It was far more disappointing
that they sent the Characters to a Rodeo, and everyone was smiling, having a good time at what is undeniably animal torture.  For this, one can not forgive.  Bulls buck because their testicles are tied together and they are in great pain. The animals are often significantly injured in the process, the rodeo is inhumane.

Jackpot (2024).

Mm.. Everything coming out of this director, Paul Feig, is entirely forgettable. He even managed to ruin a ghostbusters movie.

Cena, and Awkwafina did the best they could in their roles.

Idk, does market research show modern audiences are dumb and dumber, perhaps yes. Eh.. casually watchable over drinks.

Bro, have you seen Awkwafina in, Quiz Lady (2023). Honestly, that movie is incredibly well made, the only way to describe it is, just-delightful. It's only too bad Tp4 is dead inside, and couldn't enjoy/experience the soothing levity of it.

But on a technical level, the film had just enough contour to be extremely cheese yet palatable.

100% agree, but on a technical level, and if Tp4 weren't an internet saddo,  the Movie itself is -Delightful.

Kalki 2898 AD,

If you don't obsess about the physics,  it's very watchable.  This one has pretty decent CGI / Production value.

Indian movies don't take themselves that seriously.

It's got, Disha Patani, and Deepika Padukone

It barely scratched highschool-drama.  I think the plot centered around the weather needs to be much bigger scale given modern audiences.

2012 and The Day After Tomorrow was pretty decent.

Yeah, I say, The Day After Tomorrow was one of the last good disaster movies. After all those good ones from 90s, they kinda stopped making them for some reason. We had like 2 disaster movies a year back in 90s.

What THE HELL I just watched?! TP, I dare you...

Haha..  It's like this Phinix.

When we part out a PC, it's broken and useless until it could be made whole again.

But what if someone buys a part, and puts it on display. The part is never used for its intended purpose, never installed into a full computer.  It remains a broken computer.

THAT is the allegory, when you take a Woman, part her out, sell her sexuality, and desire nothing else from her.

These Hollywood girls, in industries like modeling, acting, "international business" are more/less just prostitutes. Many are unable to complete their life cycle normally.

So modernity breaks that natural human architecture.

The movie portrays women who are stuck in the system as parts. They can only fulfill the role the system wants of them, and that's the only ladder available to them.

Now, in reality, of course there are options, but that's assuming the person had the proper education, and is genetically intelligent enough to see the better solutions.  They also have to have the luck-of-insulation from the hyperboles of social-decay (casual sex, liquor, drugs), which usually requires being born in a wealthy nuclear family, which are becoming more rare and difficult to sustain due to late-stage-capitalism and animal-agriculture.

The world is equally dehumanizing and cruel to men. So it's not like anyone has an exclusive on painful realities.

OVERALL, I'd say today's world is pretty Ok within the historical context.  I mean yea, Subsistence farmers today still have to trade their babies for bales of Hay in Africa, but every farmer faced things such as that 1000 years ago.

We are especially cruel to animals, other species, and this Apathy/brutality spills over into how we treat each other. Ending animal agriculture is the most important pressing matter for humanity right now, it is the main culprit for climate change, and it is the greatest atrocity ever committed.

80 billion animals killed a year, that is like 13,333 jewish holocausts.  36.53 holocausts per day, 1.52 holocausts per hour.

And if anyone's thought is, Tp4, that math,  well, that just demonstrates the depth of our apathy for life's sacredness and our deep seated Speciesism.. To value human life above that of other species.

Movie's pretty good. Kind of too meta at times, because it's clearly the case that they're exploiting male gaze, to talk about male gaze.

Eghhhh.. we all saw this coming. Megan Fox AI droids.  Tp4 suspects probably at least $1,000,000 each.

NE1 else NOT enjoying Rick Morty the Anime?

It's so disjointed. Without the moral malfeasance of Americana, it's kind of empty.

Just finished the Documentary on Ruby Frankie. Youtube parenting influencer who was abusing her kids.

They don't really explain WHY she did what she did.  And if there was a cult who that therapist was alleged to be involved with.  How come nothing came of that.

They seemed to have buried this thing quickly without detailed explanation.

Tp4 suspects that whole-TOWN is probably involved. You know how these backwater places go wacko on their religion.

Warp cores seem extremely safe given the amount of energy they must catalyze.

Even shuttles have them, and they're only the size of a small room.

A bit too safe, even fictionally.

Also,  why when room lights come on in Trek Universe, they go Phewwohnnnnowowowowowo.

They're just lights. You'd think future tech would make them NOT obnoxiously audible.

So...

Melissa George (Vina) Trek-Discovery (right), looks nothing like Susan Oliver (Vina) Talos IV from TOS (left).

Maybe something Tp4's not seen' , Ya'll think they look alike?

Mouths are very different. Left face is much rounder, right more elongated.

Meh. Modern Trek lost its way years ago. You're still watching?

I've binged first three seasons of Slow Horses. Season four started last week.

On my list of series to check out:
• Maniac
• Counterpart

Of course my opinion is very skewed since I was 14 when TOS began ....

TNG seemed to suck deeply, but a rewatching in the pandemic made it less horrible. My big problem was that I despised most of the major characters. If 2/3 of the shows were discarded it could have had a few excellent seasons.

I kind of liked Voyager even though it was goofy and lame. DS9 was hopelessly tainted by awful characters and acting, although it was pretty well written. Discovery has had some excellent moments but mostly flounders in ludicrous improbabilty and implausible writing.

Enterprise and Strange New Worlds are by far the strongest of the later series, in my opinion, although there were very weak episodes in them. I struggle to excuse the liberties that they take with canon.

Picard does not deserve honorable mention, mainly because I never liked Picard due to the gigantic stick that was always up his butt. In my opinion each entire season could have (and should have) been edited down to a single excellent episode.

Chronicles of Rid**** (2004).

Christina Cox, very attractiv in dat 4K.

Textures / Grain detail are excellent. Not much use of HDR highlights, buhhhh, everything still looks gud' and remains stylistically faithful.

Immaculate (2024).

Pretty standard tropes,  but well done.  Bit many unnecessary nood scenes, but that's just modern hollywood.

Sydney Sweeney, great actress, she's got that emo-grl thing perfect in 100% of such roles.
