Black Mass (2015).

Is' gud... A bit slow here/there, but overall good follow through.

Does it cliche' quite a few generic mob themes, yea, but's unavoidable. Really's just the fault of the mobs having little imagination when it comes to their catalogue of businesses.

Some of the actors did the south boston accent well,  Depp, mmmm.. not as gud'.. just passable.

Image quality is gud, the filmgrain does shimmers a bit in places, maybe it's cgi, not sure.

Finished 3 Billboards.

Pretty gud..  Slow burn, but they had enough comic relief so things never got too stale.  Not an HDR showcase, but the fire scenes looked gud'

Ok, seriously, major plot hole here.

What kind of Ghostbusters Lipos are they using which can sustain a racing drone + Ghost catching trap w/ steel casing.

Ok,  Finally powered through, made it to the 3rd season of Star Trek- Discovery.

Tp4 no longer hates it.

Still not loving it, but now he's too invested to stop watching. Will admit fully, it's still alot better than the majority of television.

Nonetheless it feels like an abusive relationship.

Oled finally does justice to dark skin tones.

On LCD, for example, in dark scenes, black people actually look blue.

Jus' sayn' Tp4 would not design a Starship bridge that shoots fires from the walls.

It's just controls and displays, do they really need ultra high voltage conduits for that?

Honestly,

Still not onboard with "Black Alert" after 3 seasons, it's so silly sound.

time travel episodes

The most lame, cliched, and OVERUSED (even more overused than "magic") of all plot devices employed by lazy and/or incompetent writers.

Why I stopped watching "Discovery" after about the second season in the future.

The Last Days on Mars.
I enjoyed it, just not very much as I hoped so :) I've seen this movie years ago and yesterday I felt hunger for more sci-fi movies in space after seeing new Aline movie in cinema:)
Problem I found with this movie, is the way story unfolds and reasons for all the issues happened to those astronauts.
Hard to say if I'm annoyed with this articular movie, or is the frustration come after years of watching thousands of movies and finding that most of them are based on this problem.
See, looks like this movie is based on people's inability to follow orders and rules. Like most of those horror/thriller movies base on this. Simply, someone made a stupid mistake and it started "an avalanche" of events that lead to enormous disaster/death etc
I was really annoyed how those characters in this movie acted in harsh environment - one person did not follow an order, other one forgot or ignored rules/procedures or simply did not follow a common sense, like if something scary and deadly is chasing you, close the door behind you to cut it off... They wouldn't be in that situation if they have followed all simple rules. But then we would not have a story for this movie ;)

Trying to get into, Only Murders in the Building.

It's ahh... IDK,  overacted deliberately, so kinda hard to invest in the mystery aspect of it.  But If you approach it as a theater audience,  it's palatable.

Not sure about Selena Gomez.  If they're gonna try to thirst trap young people, they should've went with someone else.

Is it just that Some-shows are better with a little alcohol,

Or...  Does alcohol indubitaboory indiscriminately inhance any show.

Finally watched Annihilation all the way through.

Everyone else liked it,  not Tp4 thoug.

The cancer/grief/acceptance/evolution -allegories are set up fine, but it just wasn't sustainably interesting. I guess maybe the runtime is just too short for this type of plot to make you care about any of the characters.

They also had like 5 dudes at this whole secret base thing. You'd have more firefighters at a forest fire and this was like a giant alien fauna explosion. It rolled out kind of like a B-movie, but maybe that's what you get with $50 million these days.

Deadpool Wolverine.

Not gonna lie, Tp4 liked it.

Yea, it's pushing the gimmick a little far in places, where the personality has become a bit trite and fatiguing, but it's still better than the other pointless cash grabs, the last few guardian movies were way worse.

IDK why they won't bring back an accurate Juggernaut. He's not in that many scenes, and Half the movie is CGI already.

Gemini Man (2019), not a totally bad movie.

The 59.97fps, If you watch the movie like 10 times, you'd probably get used to it.   Technical problems aside, it's not as if 23.976 doesn't have just as many issues, bad pan breakup, exposure, etc.

Production cost is too high for 60p, very few people are taking a chance on it creatively. The only way to get 60p right is to keep doing it, but the economics just doesn't allow it at the moment.

It's really up to the small-time creators to master it. Big budget just can't take chances.

Finished Mars Express just now.

It's perfect, everything you'd want in a relevant exploration of the future,  abstract animation,  plausible Singularity, a bitter sweet albeit still debauch cybernetics atmosphere.

Wo wo wo..

Followed the yellow brick road from Mars Express (writer).

Landed on Lastman (2016), French animation. It's about a boxer fighting against a supernatural underbelly of society.

Pretty good stuff, pacing, setup, neat and tight. Cookie centers all the way.

I really want to see The Substance, it looks right up my alley. Gotta travel 2 towns over though cause none of the local theaters are playing it :(

Is The Simpsons good again, or was the season premier just a fluke?
Did I enjoy the premier because of nostalgia, or was it actually well-written?

conflicted

Tremors

I don't think I had seen it back in a days when it came out, although I've watched so many horrors movies of 80/90s era.
It wasn't great, supposed to be funny, but it felt lame, obviously special effects were soooo old and weird, I remember better movies.

Tremors 2, Aftershock, is when they really hit their stride. The characters were far more fleshed out, and the plot was peak-entertainment.

Everything after T2 wasn't good at all.

Tp4 knew right away, with a name like Chakotay, this guy was a playa, even before the plot reveal in the first season.

The quasi-unrequited sorta love affair between him and Janeway was clunky and goofy, but it was a very twisted thread that ran all the way.

"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

Seska was obviously a superior choice, Chakotay was not only a playa, he thirst for political power, immense ambitions.

Folie à Deux,

The first movie set the tone, the audience is willing to accept that there is no greater evil than the inequity of our broken society, that then manifests irregularities, places, things, people, culminating in The Joker.

Arkham is the villain
, its economy is immoral, its empathy is zero, its soul is bankrupt.

Now, on Part II, they spent more than half the movie just dragging their feet, lingering on movie 1's setup.  It was completely clear that the Audience expected and wanted revenge against the system, that was the whole point of building the joker the way they did,  it made no sense to suddenly make the "fantastical" character meekly human.

Movie 1 went from real to surreal, Movie 2 went from surreal to completely incoherent.

They had numerous springboards, but they didn't take a single chance. There was no display of creative story telling. You sit there waiting for something to happen.

And the whole This is a musical subtext, Neither of these people can actually sing, at best Gaga was an autotune thirst trap in her prime, and Joaquin is simply not of the element. They're both horrible singers, genuinely bad.

The biggest issue is FaD completely ignores why people loved the first Joker, and completely dismisses the audience that it built with that formulae.
It would be akin to making Saving Private Ryan 2 as a romantic comedy.
