Ducky Mini

Ducky here i am again (hope you read this and make something about it)

Ducky mini (YOTH) is a fantastic keyboard BUT:

1 No new ducky mini (they are canceled or what?)
2 No RGB (yeah you may say that's childish,i enjoy white)
3 No programmable key (ok no big deal but I would like a macro of some sort to lunch apps and so on JUST ONE- example Space_key)
4 Dominated by Pok3r  (Vortex has bad QC {quality control} I got a rusted plate SO BRING THE MASTER RACE BACK-Ducky mini)

ideas AND motivation:
5 I am not afraid of bezels but here is an idea make the side (and top) bezel less and keep the bezel on the bottom (like an arm rest)
6 Because of the Mini everyone KNEW about ducky (ofc there is Shine but ehh) but now what? you lose a lot Ducky
7 PLS bring back the legend (Ducky Mini) ...

EDIT:Pls show this to Ducky i know they won't do anything about it But this is why Vortex is better now ... they listen (even with bad QC)

Welcome to Geekhack!

Given that the mini appeared after the Poker (and Poker 2), I would guess that Ducky was jumping onto the 60% train.

Maybe sales weren't as great as they hoped, maybe they had to maintain a new set of tooling to make the mini, I don't know.

The Shine is their main keyboard, and that has progressed through a few iterations since the mini's time, including RGB LEDs which seem to be all the rage these days.

Maybe it was too costly for them to retrofit RGB LEDs into the mini?

Most of the large manufacturers don't give reasons why the start or discontinue products.

They might be holding off until they get an RGB backlit version ready, or they might indeed have terminated that product line.

It has to do with Market ..

Most people buying keyboards are KIDS.. .  they're not refined keyboard connoisseurs..


They eat up on all the kids stuff, backlighting, futuristic fonts, G4m3r...


They are the main market,   for the Connoisseur,   these companies simply don't care, because there are very few of us..

Not all kids have sufficient funds to buy the latest flashing metal-cased keyboard.

But yes, it is probably the younger people who prefer flashy keyboards, and older folks just go for what works best.

My students make fun of me for using a 1987 Model M in my classroom. Last year, I was arguing with one senior about why the Model M was better than his modern board. His response was that it had LEDs and glow patterns. Other techie types nodded in agreement. There was nothing about functionality or ergonomics, ease of use or anything, just looks.
