I think the way it's designed,  it's suppose to have some rigidity for the first layer to keep the wire bundle together more tightly. ptfe or even the tpu of the outer layer may be too soft and the inner conductor strands need a bit more support.

PTFE also has poor cold temperature performance..  I need a wider hot and cold range which works with the TPU.

You need something outside the ranges of mil spec M17/75-rg365? Coax, tpa jacket, LDPE dielectric, silver plated copper strands, operating range -55c to 85c. 5000v operating max. 30.8pF/ft which is great for a coax cable.

Ah, that's the part I was missing. It's 4mm nominal. In that case, carry on...
