It has been exactly 100 days I have been on the forum, seems much shorter given how I was pretty much inactive first 2 months. However there have been a number of unforgettable memories, some good, some bad.

I would like all members to post some of their most unforgettable memories of their time on geekhack.

When I got the ergodox..

The meaning of life was no longer important.

It was about the moments, the very ones, where I co-exist with my Ergodox

For me, it has to be the passing of SmallFry.

I have been quite active on a number of forums online for more than 12/13 years, yet I have never witnessed the demise of one of us, be it out of old age, or sickness, or unnatural. Never.

Seeing that thread that day, reading the title in the list if my unread threads, I thought someone was having some fun with Nate, maybe someone ranting at him, or having a play with him for something he did and they were going to kill him for it.

After reading mkawa's post, my heart stopped, I didn't know how to react, I was speechless, almost thought I was dreaming or reading it wrong, I shook my head, and then reread what had been posted. I didn't know Nate nearly well enough, maybe not at all, however having read his many helpful posts, I knew how much he meant to this community or rather. How much this forum meant to him.

Irrespective of that, I think if mkawa had found out the same about someone else, someone who hadn't been as integral or active on the forum, my reaction would have been just about the same, because I am a sentimental and emotional person and attach myself closely with any forum I join and its members.

This is a memory that is sure to leave a lasting impression in my mind, and in some ways triggered the keyboard enthusiast inside me and I became active here, and I in someways feel that is my biggest tribute to SmallFry. I am sure wherever he is he would be happy to know he gave GeekHack another member.

The first-round Group Buy.  To that point, the English-speaking keyboard enthusiasts had been very much in the shadow of the Korean-speaking ones.  They simply made cooler, more exotic stuff.

Now, we're doing pretty much everything they're doing.  This was the turning point.

I officially joined around the time of r00twyrm. I stopped by way before then. I had to remake my account a couple of times because they were resetting servers or something.

Being apart of a group buy around last winter was pretty rememberable. We had way more regulars then.

MX reds being a rarity. Pokers and Chic minis also being hard to find. CM MX green craze.

Ongoing of topic threads and the flame wars.

Probably  more if I could *remember* :P

yeah, he is very friendly
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

- having a decent discussion on race, then being labeled a racist, and then having a demonology expert lend me his support
He was an expert wasn't he LOL

Why is it that you start out having a halfway decent discussion, and then one of the participants always announces that they're Batman.
Thank you, Internets.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

A bulldog called Batmann.

Or maybe Batman's bulldog?

The first time I was called "the most obnoxious member on geekhack".

You definitely are not.

sth begs to differ:

congratulations, you are currently the most obnoxious member on geekhack
and i was labeled homophobic by sth. and maybe racist (i don't remember).

my best memory from gh was dfj's expert lecture on sheepf**king on irc, then banning me for a naked girl picture.
also everything related to smallfry.

* When I just had joined I read a thread about Dolch, I got out on eBay and got me some before prices skyrocketed.  That became my first new mechanical keyboard.
* The Phantom design and group buy. I am very pleased.
* Ripster's threads where he tested and elaborated on keyboard stuff. The acetone test, Alps types, rit dye, lube, sandblasting shiny keycaps etc. This was before he became a troll.
