My country....
Currency is literally collapsing was around R11 to $1 in 2015 now it's a hair under R17 to $1 which literally means almost everything is about 50% more expensive especially my beloved hobby
Pretty scary times..
Aren't there much more scary problems in South Africa than currency and economy? Which part of the country do you live in?
I've lived all over, right now in Cape Town which is a really beautiful place and reasonably well run compared to the rest if you ever get the chance it's definitely worth a visit. There are many problems don't get me wrong (I literally don't know of someone who hasn't been the victim of some crime or other) but this is a serious devaluation in a short time and seems to be getting worse with analysts saying it might hit R20 to $1 pretty soon. The economy is a reflection of the country really, government is another level of bad there isn't much in the way of positive news, rampant corruption etc. I fear things will get a lot worse. It's a massive knock on as currency depreciates fuel goes up (we haven't felt this yet because of oil being at an all time low, thankfully but it's not going to stay there forever) which means food goes up, which means the many poor and unemployed land up in an even worse situation which means crime goes up and so on....

I'm normally the positive one about the country but I'm starting to feel like the frog in the pot that's slowly boiling. Sorry to be so serious but it is what's bothering me. Seriously contemplating immigration, anyone have any suggestions? It's a pity because I love living here and love the country but I need to think of the future.
Hoping everything works out!
