I'm getting triggered by horrible code  >:D

pls give example

about two weeks ago i found some legacy code that was essentially

Quote
if (!(IsDisabled() != false))

i had to write up a logic diagram just to make sure i was understanding it correctly before simplifying it

That must've been written on purpose, egads.

Housing is so ****ing expensive that I doubt I'll ever be able to buy a place.  Unless I magically start making six figures, the only place I could potentially ever own is a ****ty condo in the ghetto.  Hell, even mobile homes in the area (which most won't sell to you unless you're over 55) are around $200k or higher.

Get yourself a sugar momma. OC is filled with them.

I've never actually seen that relationship AFK,  ever...  Do they really exist..

This area is ridiculous in terms of housing.  Not as ridiculous as San Francisco, Manhattan, or London, but ridiculous none the less.  And good luck getting a condo in the ghetto if you don't make > $100k (i've checked).

I'm currently in the process of being the only source of transportation for both my parent to their medical appointments.  Work just loves that.

I think the key is to just not buy more things...

You can keep what you have, it's prolly fine.

Gotta pay that collision deductible the week after a vacation though. Can only squeeze the wallet so hard. :P

But I've been slowly downsizing all year anyway trying to sell a keyboard a month.

And now the wife thinks she wants a different vehicle.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

It's some form of stomach issue she has, apparently the muscles in her stomach cramp up. And add nausea to that and you've got a GREAT cocktail.

I have a co-worker who is "sick" at least once a week, and I really don't know how the management is still letting this **** fly because she is on salary.  Then when she does come in, she rolls in usually an hour to two hours late, and sometimes stays later to make it up but not very often.  She is supposed to be like the head receptionist, but since she is never here it just means that I end up doing most of her work for her

Ah it wouldn't even be close as my wife would beat the **** out of her, but to be fair my wife could probably beat the **** out of me. Wifey is really laid back usually, but if she gets the Jager or whiskey in her, she gets pretty feisty and scrappy which is why I try to avoid those liquors when she is drinking, which isn't often anymore.  We're all old now demik, ya know?

How do you know she is "sick" and not sick? And how many paid sick days do you have per year?

Well I think that sometimes she is actually sick, but her refusal to see a doctor when she is actually sick is part of what is so irritating.  She told me a couple months back that she was missing a lot of work because of sinus issues and she had tried all these all natural remedies which weren't doing ****, and after 2 months of it she went to do the doctor who gave her some generic antibiotics that had her fixed up in just a couple days.  She also misses a lot of work because of stomach issues, which she disclosed to another co-worker is really related to that time of the month, but you can't just not come in for work 1-2 days a month because of that.  Plenty of women have issues like that, but you either need to seek some medical help or just deal with it, as bad as it sounds, because frankly she is just abusing the system right now.

For sick days, because I work for a smaller accounting firm we just rolled out an official handbook about paid sicks days, paid vacation days, etc. this year and we are supposed to be allowed 1 a quarter.  She obviously is well over that but no action has been done about it, and since she is salary she has basically gotten 20-30 sick days all paid so far just this year.  If she was paid hourly it probably wouldn't be an issue because then she would be paying out of her pocket to stay home, but since she is salary she basically can take vacation days whenever the hell she wants and until the management actually does something I don't see it stopping.  I assumed that maybe they were considering her vacation time as her sick days now, but as she is on vacation this whole week and again in a couple months, I guess that is not the case.

It's kinda irritating to me because it just results in more work that is somewhat mundane, but from a a management perspective I would think it would be much more annoying as they are paying her for 40 hours and she usually only does about 25 hours right now.  I know some of the management staff is sick of it, but they haven't done much to stop it.

Slash her tires.

Or have the wife fight her 1v1.

Sounds like you got yourself a ride or die chick 💯💯

Yeah I don't drink anymore. I either get friendly or fall asleep early. More of the latter lately. I don't need nobody to put putting their balls on my face because I fell asleep like a *****.

Yeah, she is pretty cool :D

I agree though, my wife still drinks every once in a while but whenever I drink I get friendly and chatty or sleepy as well.  Last time I had two beers I was yawning so hard it was making my jaw hurt, and when I got home I fell asleep on the floor only to awake 3-4 hours later with a pounding headache.  If I actually drink enough to get drunk I usually have awful hangovers that last pretty much the whole next day, so I avoid alcohol most of the time.

Well I think that sometimes she is actually sick, but her refusal to see a doctor when she is actually sick is part of what is so irritating
Well maybe she can't afford going to a doctor any more...

we are supposed to be allowed 1 a quarter
Oh good heaven. I have 15 and think it's not enough.

That certainly could be the case, but since she worked at a nation-wide accounting and payroll firm before she came here (to take a pay raise) I really don't think that it is.  Also, her previous employer definitely wouldn't have allowed her to call in sick weekly, so it seems to be a new thing.

For sick days, this is the first year that I have worked in over 16 years in the workforce that I actually have paid sick days.  In the good ol' US of A, those are definitely not a requirement for employers and a lot of them will only give you 1 a quarter, if they give them at all.

Make sure you get some grub from the unregulated food carts circling the area.  The more they ring the bell, the safer the cart is in terms of food safety.

Also if you need to renew your ID just hit up any of the undercover DMV workers. No need to wait in line!

While I'm sure somebody as seasoned as you are knows, the fastest way to get in and out is to valet park.  Convenient too as there are valets everywhere who will park your car for $10 really fast.

What is bothering me right now is my inability to understand basic electronics.  I'm looking at learning how a keyboard actually works so I can have a better handle when building one myself, and I just cant grasp the concept of matrix wiring, how a diode per switch prevents ghosting, or similar simple concepts.
