I ****ing hate my job. I hate the work so much, the past few weeks the very first thought that pops into my head as soon as I open my eyes in the morning is "****, I gotta do the same exact thing again today."

I hate myself, I hate the work, every single day is a struggle  and there is not a damn thing I can do about it for now.

This morning while walking to work I was sort of toying with the idea of getting hit by a slow moving vehicle just so I didn't have to come in. That's how bad it is.

Hahahaha... Noisyturtle  //engages EMO mode..

Calm down gentle Turtle...   I think managing your dopamine levels is going to be the key here...

A common symptom of dopamine disregulation is reduced motivation towards daily life..

Instead of being able to be optimistic, to actively search for and FIND the thing you enjoy in your occupation,  You loath the main stream, while clinging to this imagined/abstract/intangible possibility that there's something better..

But the problem here is,  your dopamine levels are low, such that you can not workup the --Pep-- to get yourself out of Non-growth..  And so you feel frustrated..

Your affliction is chemical in nature..  I've already casually touched upon potential steps in our previous discussions..   Perhaps give it a go..

so, what's happening is,  your modern indulgences has taken your receptor count down a notch..   the things that were once motivating are no longer as intriguing to you..  what's also happened along with this perspective switch,   is that your prefrontal cortex is being dampened.. you are not able to Will yourself to do something about changing your current predicament..

I work with radar data

Just started back in Sept after leaving MS. The pay is great, and the amenities are top-notch, but the actual work is unbearable. I should clarify - I hate the work, not the job.

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I haven't bought a computer in years and I honestly have no idea where to even begin.

I keep browsing dell outlet and thinking of buying a system then talk myself out of it.

I'm oddly drawn to the AIO systems....

If something really sad happens to someone else on the internet who is a stranger, do you have the right to feel sad or pity them?

Yes of course.  If you saw someone being killed on TV live or more than one like 911 you should feel pity.

SDC mapping division for Google X. It sounds a lot cooler than it actually is, which is why I jumped on the job in the first place.

I'm not sure what it actually is, but it definitely sounds cool.

By the way, why did you leave the MS?

I hit a deer on the way into work this morning.

After seeing half a dozen along the way one finally was on the run and our paths intersected just right.

I don't think it did too much damage but just enough I'll have to pay for it as it'll be less than my deductible.

There is a highway between NSW and Canberra in Australia and driving along it at 3 in the morning can be a pretty frustrating thing. It gets really foggy so all the kangaroos line up on the edge of the road and just wait for cars. Once they see a car, they wait until literally the last minute and jump in front of it. But their timing is that good that if they decide you are their victim, you litterally have no time to brake.

tl;dr

Kangaroos are ****ing stupid *******s.

After seeing half a dozen along the way one finally was on the run and our paths intersected just right.

I don't think it did too much damage but just enough I'll have to pay for it as it'll be less than my deductible.

I've always thought of kangaroos as cute and cudly but clearly they are a menace. :)

And yeah I see deer daily in both mornings and evenings but usually they stay off the road but something must have spooked this guy he was running I just clipped his hind end.

I'm thinking my headlight assembly got the worst of it and a few bits are missing from the grill.

Thankfully my vehicle is old enough to have a metal bumper and sturdy metal body panels.

Lucky you only clipped it. Animal strikes are a pain in the ass.

Story time!  Anyone remember this?  In case you forgot, here's that picture again.

And guess what I had on the seat next to me.  My Kishsaver and a certain Blue Alps board that I was trying out.

Well, when the stupid stupid bird hit the windshield, it clearly shattered (see above for reminder) and little pieces went all over everything in the cabin.  In my lap, my backpack, my Kishsaver, and our beloved Blue Alps board.  :(  See for yourself.

This was unfortunate, to say the least.  I immediately texted CPTBadAss to tell him to alert AKIMbrO of my massive transgression.  Well, that was actually after I called for a tow.  But anyway, I felt awful, but thankfully AKIMbrO really is a huge bro after all.  He's been very patient with me as I've taken quite some time to find the right opportunity to clean the board (it's been raining here for so long...), so thanks for that.

Anyway, I've got the board all cleaned up now, and it will be on its way to 1pq very soon!  I expect to be able to ship it out either tomorrow or Wednesday, depending on how my schedule lines up with the post office's hours.   :thumb:

Thanks for putting up with this huge delay, everyone.  I really am sorry about the mess I made.  At least it cleaned up just fine.

So there you go!  This board has been through a lot.  But it's a persistent bugger, and hasn't given up just yet!
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

Holy ****. That looked nasty. Someone hit a cow in one of our work cars about 4 months ago. Lucky it was a 200 series landcruiser with bullbar. The vehicle was still drivable bullbar needed some work though. I cant remember if it was replaced or just bent out. Now there is a massive rusty dent in the bonnet where the codan antenna base was forced backwards.

I hit 3 kangeroos in the space of about two years. Two were just taps which sent them bouncing off. That was only because i saw them and knew what they were planning so i managed to slow down to about 20-40km. One needed a new bumper.

Light bars are a must if you do regular rural driving in this country filled with animals that think the best way to safelty is it jump into the path of danger as opposed to away.

I remember reading about an article about a train conductor around my area (bushland of northern Ontario). The conductor was saying that at night, animals that were on the tracks wouldn't move even after blasting the horn, but when the light turned off they got out of the way almost immediately. Maybe roos are the same
I've never done it before, but I'm pretty sure I'm good at it

I like Kailh Browns...

Kailh Blues are better...easily my favorite unmodified Blue Switch.

I can get behind that. Kailh Blues are definitely better than MX Blues
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Wait for a dead pixel on the screen in an AIO   :))
They're a bad idea.

It's bothering me linux runs better than windows on my laptop, although I can still tell there are some issues. I think it might be time to open up the laptop and put new thermal paste on the processor and video card and probably change out the fan to see if it will help any.

if you got the sealed kind, where the fan-chamber can't be opened for cleaning, where the fan impeller can't be removed for rinsing under water,   then you could buy a whole new fan/cooler.

If you got the kind where the chamber can be opened, then you don't need to buy a new one. just clean and redo paste.

The entire fan unit is like $5 shipped on eBay.

I've never tried taking the fan housing apart just blew it out with compressed air a long time ago.

It's a pain though you have to do a lot of disassembly to get to the point of removing the heatsinks and the fan.

Well, yea that's my point though,  even though the cost is $5,  the labor involved in removing the motherboard from the chassis is far in excess of the 3 additional screws to open the cooling fan chamber..

The breakdown is :

1.5 hour total disassembly labor, at $45 of your time value @ $30 an hour salary..

$5 replacement fan.   VS  .  removing 3 additional screws to open / clean fanchamber..

I open up my most used laptop (x220) every year to clean it out.  I've got it down to 15 minutes.. but that's only because I've taken it apart over 12 times (mostly for fun over the years to try out new thermal pastes)..
