All the best stuffs in travel usually doesn't cost money, it's just the walking around part.
Indeed, but I am a vegetarian, and I was referring mostly to places to eat. I'm not keen on eating the same greasy fast food every day or overpriced half-measures with no nutrition, protein or taste.
And a small correction:it isn't just the weekdays but it being off-season.
You'd think restaurants could update their web sites/facebook page or at least put a sign up on their physical door shen they are closed, but no. Also, that travel/map sites that I'm using for search could take seasons into account: of course not.
I'm used to having to walk around a bit to find a restaurant that serves something decent, but I'm not used to this level. I waste about half my awake time either on the web or walking trying to chase somewhere to eat, and I still end up at a tourist trap. If I had been in Japan now as I had originally planned, food would be a treat — not a burden, and even the "tourist traps" cost only like a normal lunch over here.
