Are there any brands/stores you boycott/refuse to buy from?
« on: Tue, 09 September 2014, 19:28:59 »
i will never step foot inside a walmart. i'd rather pay a little extra at target than give my business to them.

i know there is a dude on here that for some reason hates cooler master.
No, he’s not around. How that sound to ya? Jot it down.

+1

Actually, given the complete lack of quality of what's on those shelves, it's cheaper to shop anywhere else. If I pay twice as much for a shirt ... it lasts 3-4 times as long. So, cheaper in the end.

that's the only boycott I have going though, I think.

Barnes and Noble.

A while back, when the HP tablets were going on fire sale, after consideration, I decided I wanted to pick one up and dual boot Android on it. B&N claimed they had them for sale. I ordered. They charged my cc, and sent out shipping notices to people. Then, after some time passed, they sent emails saying they didn't have any to sell, and I had to spend time waiting for them to reverse the charge. Stupid. Don't you have a proper ****ing online inventory? ****s. And ever since then, I never went back.

Sad, because I love books, and at that time, Borders had got taken over, so B&N was it around me. Then Amazon saved me.

Oh yeah! Amazon!

They've patented the browser cookie, and they strictly enforce their patents. I don't visit their website.

I do not like Hobby Lobby or Chic-Fil-A.

HL Primary Reason: They refuse to stock Halloween stuff.

CFA Primary Reason: I don't like their food.

Secondary Reason for Both: They use their products and/or business practices to further a religious agenda. I don't mind if you're religious, but do not shove it down my throat.

Not really. I won't buy a brand again if I've got it before and it was a bad product, but never let some moral issue that is out of my control overtake convenience or something that's well made. Me not wearing Nike's isn't going to shut down sweat shops in Malaysia, and me not eating Chick-Fil-A isn't going to change how the owners feel about Gays. I am just depriving myself of comfortable stylish shoes and delicious chicken sandwiches, and while I walk around looking good and being full I hope your sense of self-pride is enough to power your Prius to the nearest Whole Foods so you can pick up some free-range cage-free vegan tofu curds for your upcoming alumni patio party.

Walmart - Business practices.
Beats, Monster - Overpriced bull****.
Ryan Air, Easy Jet - Cheap, awful experiences.
Brookstone - Blatantly disregarded Amazon's policies and signed me up for their catalog.

I'll admit I do go to Whole Foods now and then. Their hot food section isn't bad for lunch and they sell a few items I like that aren't easily found elsewhere. (e.g. Genesis Ginger Lemonade)

Good god people are ****ing stupid.

Personally I refuse to buy anything Apple. I use a Macbook Pro for work and while I like it I'd never spend my own money on anything they make, seems like with most things they make you pay 2x the price for something that has half the functionality. No thanks.

I went once against my will.  Walked out $800 ahead, never went back.

My list would include Originitave as I started to frequent his issues with the group buy caps that he was in on before it was the site, anything made outside the US when there is a US made option that is available that I don't have to go hunt down just to locate where to buy it unless I don't mind waiting for shipping for an internet purchase.  I also do what I can to not shop at Hobby Lobby nor anywhere that has "Weapons Prohibited" signs.

I also prefer to shop at locally owned places of business over franchise and chain stores as well.

if you're a single guy you can find lots of young girls, milfs and even milfs who bring their tweens (only ok if you're a tween yourself otherwise, eww) just grab a basket and walk around whole foods/trader joes/ and pretentious grassroots natural market ****.

seriously seems like a lot of women who care about their looks. i won't really shop here, since the **** is for idiots who don't know how to shop and like to waste money. (they might have a sale item of the week i'll be interested in) and the lines are horrible b/c it's made up of indecisive women, but if you're a single guy and need a date.

i have no issue with chikfila and their religious beliefs, if they go so far as to not open on sundays, i mean what do you expect? probably about the only good food down south when i was there. heck wife and i would sit around and be like "you want chikfila?" "damn stupid pplz, it's sunday!"

Albert Heijn.
Those bastards kept replacing my favorite cookies with their own cheaper house brand. Only they were inedible. I once bought their chocolate chip cookies but couldn't even bite through it. I could even toss it across the room into a brick wall and not even a speck of dust came off.

Same with pretty much every other A-list brand. They even went so far as to copy the packaging of the product to make it match the premium brand. Time and time again they were called back by judges and they still kept doing it.

Yeah.. I avoid any game that requires Origin or UPlay.  I avoid going to WalMart most times, but only because I don't like how $^@! big the stores are..  I buy most stuff from Amazon or Steam.  Humble Bundle has some nice deals too

i will defend walmart, when i was in PA, the walmart supercenter near me was my grocery store. this doesn't mean it's crap, fresh fruit veggies, a lot of it was implied from local farmers, a deli and a butchers area too with organic chicken, and if i needed to buy jeans and a wii with a ream of paper, wtf!

there was no grocery/supermarket within walking distance, if i didn't buy eggs from walmart, i'd have to buy them from the gas station(wawa) for 2x the price.

if i wanted to drive the next supermarket would have been 12minutes further than the super walmart.

not only that, the super walmart was 24 hours, which is the plus and the downside to the super walmart.

i will never shop at a walmart with more than 10 items b/c they have limited cashiers. and i only shopped at the super walmart during really dead hours, otherwise i'd really be in line for 30mins. if i did shop during peak hours the ppl in line with me were usually moms with shopping carts filled to the brim grocery shopping for the family. one time i saw this mom buy 15 items of baby clothing for 20bucks... yea my kids gonna wear walmart clothes.

my current nj super walmart doesn't have fresh groceries and only aisle items and refridgerated/frozen foods, and they aren't 24 hours, they still have better prices than the bounty of supermarkets near me now tho (whereas i didn't have any b4, now i have over 5 to choose from in a 6minute radius, 7 in 15minutes)

heck i think i had to buy my cable modem from the super walmart cuz the best buy was that sucky.

my current nj super walmart doesn't have fresh groceries and only aisle items and refridgerated/frozen foods, and they aren't 24 hours, they still have better prices than the bounty of supermarkets near me now tho (whereas i didn't have any b4, now i have over 5 to choose from in a 6minute radius, 7 in 15minutes)

heck i think i had to buy my cable modem from the super walmart cuz the best buy was that sucky.

Hell, I do my grocery shopping at Kroger's, as their prices are comparable (sometimes even better) than Walmart, and the selection and quality is better.

Now, I will say that I buy my jeans from Walmart, as Faded Glory jeans are the only ones I've found that are comfortable to wear, and I'll be goddamned if I'm going to go spend $50+ on a pair of jeans.

Although it's hard, I try and stay away from any component that features anything from "broadcom".

Grocery stores.  Hate 'em.  Crowded.  Too much light.  Produce usually is a week old and shipped from across the country.  Most things are value-added, overly packaged, infused with corn or soybeans, unhealthy options.  Few products offered in small amounts that could be easily offered in bulk.  Few, if any, local food offerings.

Add that includes Whole Foods and their ilk.  Overpriced nonsense for clueless people with too much money to burn.

I refuse to go to Moe's. Every since going their once and hearing them scream "Welcome to Moe's" every second when someone walked in, I have a panic attack just thinking about it.

Chipotle only for me!
