i will defend walmart, when i was in PA, the walmart supercenter near me was my grocery store. this doesn't mean it's crap, fresh fruit veggies, a lot of it was implied from local farmers, a deli and a butchers area too with organic chicken, and if i needed to buy jeans and a wii with a ream of paper, wtf!
there was no grocery/supermarket within walking distance, if i didn't buy eggs from walmart, i'd have to buy them from the gas station(wawa) for 2x the price.
if i wanted to drive the next supermarket would have been 12minutes further than the super walmart.
not only that, the super walmart was 24 hours, which is the plus and the downside to the super walmart.
i will never shop at a walmart with more than 10 items b/c they have limited cashiers. and i only shopped at the super walmart during really dead hours, otherwise i'd really be in line for 30mins. if i did shop during peak hours the ppl in line with me were usually moms with shopping carts filled to the brim grocery shopping for the family. one time i saw this mom buy 15 items of baby clothing for 20bucks... yea my kids gonna wear walmart clothes.
my current nj super walmart doesn't have fresh groceries and only aisle items and refridgerated/frozen foods, and they aren't 24 hours, they still have better prices than the bounty of supermarkets near me now tho (whereas i didn't have any b4, now i have over 5 to choose from in a 6minute radius, 7 in 15minutes)
heck i think i had to buy my cable modem from the super walmart cuz the best buy was that sucky.
