Need some opinion on my recent encounter

Hello folks,

              I was recently contacted by a user whom I will not be naming to sell me a clack blank. I asked him for a price he would like for it and he said $200. I took less than a day as I mentioned to him that I am definitely considering it based on what my financial status would be. I sold some of my collection in order to fund this purchase and once I had contacted him, he said he would like to ebay the item instead because he wants to "Maximize" his cash. Here is a quick quote form him/her.

I'll have to get back to you on it. I really need money right now and i'd rather get rid of an OG cherry beige set + windowed locks. maybe you have interest in that?

My question is should I have first confirmed that he really was going to sell it for 200 before I sold my items even if he mentioned that price prior or is that already implied since he mentioned several times that the item was going to be $200.

I would love some feedback on this as I would like to avoid situations like these in the future as I am nota  big fan of parting with my collection unless I must in order to improve it. This is not a witch hunt and I am simply looking for advice/suggestions. Please refrain from commenting on who the user is if you do know them since this is not the purpose of this thread.

I think you need to ask yourself why this type of stuff is happening to you on a now what seems regular basis. I think it may be time to slow your roll on collecting/buying/trading, spend some more time on the forums developing relationships you can trust, and enjoy yourself instead of putting yourself in stressful situations over a hobby.

I am not a lawyer, but the fundamental framework of any agreement is:

(1) an offer
(2) an acceptance
(3) the exchange of consideration (value)

From your description, both offer and acceptance seemed vague.

If there was an unequivocal statement of "I will buy it for $X" and an unequivocal response of "I will sell it for that amount" then you had the basis of a contract.

Otherwise, you were just speculating.

Watch out for "the crash". We've seen many-a-collector moving as swiftly as you disappear and/or have sell-offs.

I'm assuming you just wanted to start something since you clearly said on your last post that you weren't planning to do business with me? I'd appreciate it if you could shed some light in that because almost all my trades and transactions went perfect except for the two times I told you via PM. One was with you and one was from another person who left me stuck with a cap I got for them over their request and decided to back out on it ( we eventually settled on something and he genuinely is a nice guy). Maybe there is a third one because there is another person who wants my MX ruby red skull + an orange unicorn for their big/tri that i keep declining but that is a different situation compared to someone backing out because they want more so I guess you are the only one I've experienced this with good sir.

1) give them more money
2) don't give them more money and don't deal with them again

Advice taken from the master. This is true since I can't really force them to sell. Just a bit sad I let go of some of mine to get the Pesos to pay him with . Can't argue with your suggestion though.
