Have you ever used the C-word ?
« on: Sat, 16 May 2015, 21:07:07 »
Living in 'Murica,  we don't hear the C-word "ever"..

So

TBH,  I don't even know how to use it..

I've noticed the British use the C-word similarly to how 'Murica would use the B-word..

Is the B-word = C-word  in the UK ?

Any Americans here ever put the C-word to legitimate use?    If so,  could you please type out the sentence/ context...

Was this a natural reaction  @ the time..   as in did the word, naturally rise to the surface and you said it..

Or did you have to pause for a second, and deliberate the right term to describe her vehicular ineptitude.

Natural. I really really hate people that are on their cell and driving. It's my number 1 pet peeve and often times I hope for the worst thing to happen to them. So **** becomes natural.

Brits like to throw around "Yank."

This is about as effective an insult as the reliability of their cars.

Yank isn't an insult. It's shorter than saying freedom loving American. One word > three

A hundred years ago, "c u n t" was in common usage and not even particularly vulgar, approximately on the level of "c o c k"

It is practically scientific, derived from Latin, and refers to a part of the female body.

But, today, in the US at least, is is rarely used anatomically but rather, almost exclusively, as a personal insult.

And, as my logical daughter succinctly reminded me recently, "calling a  d i c k  a  d i c k  is a lot different from calling a person a  d i c k"

"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

Being in Australia, I can confirm that the C word is a common occurrence. I regularly call my wife the C word (jokingly) but try not to use it in public. Others are much more liberal with their use of C word.

I believe it is used as a filler during sentence construction for example.....

Avoid saying CVNT as much as possible due to women listening in, which could back fire upon you big time in a public place.   Even though I'm a Rock-ape with no manners whatsoever, my Mrs shall sometime's get really pissed with her mates then it's the "C" word in every sentence.  A group of women all screaming the "C" word as the walk down the street, so fvcking proud to be an Aussie.

In fact I love her even more when she starts talking like absolute filth, gets me so hard..........  :thumb:

Are you kidding me? **** is like THE most fun word to say. It's really about that hard K and T sounds that make it so phonetically pleasing. Just try saying '**** Punter' without a smile, IMPOSSIBLE! Just say it. ****. ****i **** **** :))

Furthermore if you live in AU, **** is really an endearing term. Heck it's endearing over in England depending on the situation. In fact,  it was originally a medical term/the correct and respectful word for vagina, not an insult. Doctors used "****" rather than "vagina," with "vagina" being considered the vulgar word of the two.

Anywhoo, it shouldn't be any more or less offensive than calling someone a '****' and the only country (****ry?) on the planet that takes major offense to it is America because once again we expect the world to walk on eggshells for our special snowflake sensibilities and change their customs to what fits our moral standards. At any rate say ****, say it proud, say it over coffee or tea, with friend or foe. It's a wonderfully versatile and pleasing word!

Namely: ****, Git, Twat, Knob, Mate, Ect...

Ps. 'Cheeky' is a nice word, also...

It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

And:

Proof that they definitely say it in Aussieland.

When growing up in South Africa it was considered the worst of the worst words to call a woman and to use it in common speech was... just not cricket.

I hate the word cheeky. Wtf does it even mean? Silly?

It means naughty in a cute way... like doing something you're not allowed to, but getting away with it because you're a charmer.

And then there's "having a cheeky Nando's"... which is a bit harder to explain.

My brother's girlfriend is a real country music star.

There has to be another word on a higher level then that to describe her.

Anywhoo, it shouldn't be any more or less offensive than calling someone a '****' and the only country (****ry?) on the planet that takes major offense to it is America because once again we expect the world to walk on eggshells for our special snowflake sensibilities and change their customs to what fits our moral standards.

Nah bro, it just happens to be perceived as harsher in the US than elsewhere. Language differs from region to region, it doesn't really have a moral component to it. There are plenty of situations in the UK and AU where saying **** would be majorly jarring, and plenty here in the US where it is accepted and normal.

In answer to OP, I don't think I've ever used the word casually or in anger. To my ear it sounds very British and/or Australian and is part of the flavor of those dialects of English. I hear dozens of ****s and ****s every week at work and among friends, but almost never a ****.
