A hundred years ago, "c u n t" was in common usage and not even particularly vulgar, approximately on the level of "c o c k"
It is practically scientific, derived from Latin, and refers to a part of the female body.
But, today, in the US at least, is is rarely used anatomically but rather, almost exclusively, as a personal insult.
And, as my logical daughter succinctly reminded me recently, "calling a d i c k a d i c k is a lot different from calling a person a d i c k"
